Hope we can agree something with Delap/Man City. I would also be after Stansfield in some capacity too. One of them perm and one on loan would be great business. Drameh would be my target for RB. Think Brum have first dibs, we were interested but he picked them over us in the summer. Would require a bit of compo but nothing massive.
Can see Delap & Morton doing at least another season with us either on loan or we come to an agreement over a transfer similar to Philogene. .
"Yes, they're back in my thinking," he said of Connolly and Ohio. "Noah - it's just purely selection. Other than Anass, I've got a fully fit squad and it's hard to pick a bench and that's just that's where I'm at. I make those decisions based on performances in training, based on the opposition and Noah comes right back into my thinking, and in terms of Aaron, it's exactly the same. Training is that good that there's certain players that are training so well, that it's impossible to leave them out. "I'm really fortunate with this group, training consistently is very, very good. Adama Traore has been banging on the door in training for a long time, Doc (Greg Docherty) is always training really well, Cyrus (Christie) is training great, Coyley's (Lewie Coyle) come back - he wasn't in the team, but he trains great every day. "There's so much competition here and I think I spoke about this before the last game; our injury record is outstanding this year, so it's really difficult. You have to plan a squad for the worst in terms of injuries, and unfortunately for a few players, we've got a fully fit squad and that means that one or two will always miss out."
I know I was quite surprised too. I think when he does hit the corners he doesn’t get much power, and when he does it’s straight down the middle. Much like Kane he strikes the ball superbly well and that’s why most don’t think it’ll be long until they’re flying in.
I mean a top scoring Dutch u21 would be quite a player to pick up. He has all the physical attributes to be a good player so if the feee was decent you’d probably take a punt on the hope that with a full pre season he’d be a good option.
I do think that Rosie is telling the truth when he says there’s something there he likes. Oddly, I also feel the signing would make more sense if it became a permanent at the end of the season, and he was always brought in as a player to be developed rather than thrown straight into the first team.
It also makes sense why he misses out off his cameos, he is very loose in possession and we are very susceptible to counter attacks
I think Ohio would possibly make an excellent striker for your typical championship side that plays fast and hard. From what we’ve seen of him I don’t think he has the technique to really fit in well with the way we play, we are all about good ball control in tight spaces and he just doesn’t really have that close control. Although we haven’t really seen a lot of him at all so he could be better at it than he’s showed, and played within himself due to nerves/confidence etc that could flourish with a bit of patience. It would be odd for Rosey to sign a donkey anyhow so it would be reasonable to think he’s better than he’s showed so far.
Plus not many players come to the championship for the first time and immediately hit the ground running
Middlesborough showing how we should be playing with our team. Crap at the back like, dynamite and slick up top.
I'm not too stressed about not being able to retain Delap/Morton next year. They've been great but I remember when they signed and it wasn't like they came with a massive amount of fanfare. Delap especially was a puzzling one as his record wasn't great. Morton had done well enough at Blackburn but it was a hard summer window as we couldn't spend much money as we didn't have a big sale. This summer we will, I just want to see a lower reliance on loanees and more permanents. I think our ability to attract players will be as high as it's been for a long while and I trust them to get the recruitment right. They've learnt every window and it's constantly improving
Yeah I've been banging the Stansfield drum for the last few months. I think there was some suggestion Drameh is happening, can't remember if it was Tan talking about his agent or something.
I would also be after Stansfield in some capacity too. Couldn't agree more, he would certainly be worth looking at.
I wonder if there’s anyone worth poaching from the relegated teams. Stoke already seem to be lining up a deal for Johansson at Rotherham. If Brum go down, there will be a few who won’t want to play League One football. Bielik left Derby for Brum precisely because the Poland coach said he wouldn’t be selected if he was playing in League One or lower. He’s had injury problems in his career but he’s only 26 and he’s on course to playing 35+ games in back-to-back seasons so he’s done well to stay fit and available the last two years. I’ve always liked Bielik. He’s big and strong but also got the technical ability to play in a possession team.
There are players like Sorba Thomas. His stats show that he seems to create a lot of opportunities and carries the ball well. Doesn’t seem to be very successful at completing passes or making tackles though. So that probably doesn’t suit our style of play.
