Delap is nowhere near the finished article He has the potential to explode He will score more and more aswell as charge through defenses I hope we go out all for him as we will regret it if we dont
I think the feelings around Delap are really interesting. We all want to sign him in the summer, but he still isn't the proven, 20+ goals a season, Championship-level striker a lot of the posters on here keep saying we should have signed in January. When we initially loaned him, he had FOUR Championship goals (from 37 games). To put that into context, Noah Ohio had FIVE goals in the Austrian Bundesliga (from 30 games) before coming here. If you had to choose between the two based on that alone, I reckon a lot of people would have opted for Ohio. I know some people think the recruitment for Ohio was poor, but that same recruitment team brought in Delap. Some are gonna work out, and some ain't.
He still had more senior level goals than Delap. Posters on here keep asking for proven strikers, and Delap was in no way a proven striker. Neither were. The point is that we're going to keep signing players that have unrealised potential, some of them will be great, and some of them won't be. I imagine we'll see some from both camps join this summer.
The problem is We cant afford a 20 goal a season championship striker Look at whitaker at plymouth He will cost a fortune in the summer Same with piroe last summer Id like him Delapd all around play is fantastic and i think he will score more and more Hes gonna dominate the championship very soon Hope its with us
I agree, we can't afford a 20 goal a season striker. Instead, we'll be hoping to find more players like Delap who have yet to blossom, and I can already see the meltdown posts on here when we decide to go for another player with as little experience as Delap had at the time we signed him.
No he isn't a proven 20+ goal man yet and who knows if he ever will be, but he's certainly showing he could be. He also shouldn't imo be the only signing we made in the strikers department. We still need some again imo, some actual experience in that area, someone like billy sharp but that isn't past it. This season we've had a choice of people with not much experience or someone whos past it. ( Connolly is in there but not there if that makes sense due to various issues and reasons ) Comparing him to Ohio due to the amount of senior goals scored is a head scratcher as well. It makes zero sense. They are absolutely miles apart.
My point was that – on paper – they weren't miles apart before they joined us. Delap's stats didn't exactly suggest he'd be a player we'd all want at the end of the season. That's all.
Cant imagine hes on a huge wage And you know how much i think jamie mclaren would be worth a punt Cant see why hed leave the best city in thd world though at this stage
It’s still quite a few regardless. He doesn’t get much service either when you look at his goals, quite a few are opposition mistakes, Norwich and Brum, then a few solo efforts. Either way all his data suggests if he’s given a lot of chances he will score goals. He’s the best performing striker in the division for % of shots hitting the corners of the goal.
Cameron Pring Bristol City left back would be good signing in the event Matty Jacob isn’t Rosie’s long term choice
It's less than a third of his appearances, I'm not sure why it's being made out to be more than it was. He also scored against Leicester while playing out there and against Birmingham while playing there, so it's not as if he was shunted out there and it ruined his play.
That chance v watford when he almost hit the far corner You can just tell hes gonna score so many goals Once it clicks
Proven goalscorers Im not going to list 20 paragraphs why though Unless youre a scout at city And or want to pay me for my '****ty analysis ha
