That may be true or maybe not, as we have no idea how any other manager would have done if he wasn't appt. Hasn't he been there nearly the full season, sure I read he had been in charge 35 games

Think every appointment is a risk these days, only ever 5 bad results from the chop, he looks to have a good upside so would be interested to see him here, understand the concerns with his limited first team experience too, all I know for definite is I’m glad I don’t have to make the decision!

    32. If the league started the day he was appointed they'd be 15th and we'd be 19th. Unbelievable turnaround with a shocking squad and I still think they may stay up, they definitely have a chance at 3 points on the last day up here.

If we're bringing in an old head to help the new gaffa, and I dont think that's a bad idea, can I be the first to say MON is the man. In the last 20 years he was the only manager I was genuinely pissed off we sacked. I'm on my own I think, but I've never been happier than when MON was announced...even more so than Keano..and I immediately ran out same day to empty my current account on a season ticket when Keane was announced.

I agree with Scout, and if I could piggy back on the back of this.

I was head of the Mowbray out brigade, especially after Swansea away. I didn't think he could take this group any further and wasn't getting the best out of them. This was with the caveat that I thought the club would bring in a better or more suitable (in their opinion) head coach. They obviously didn't for reasons that have been well discussed.

This squad have the makings of a really good team (with a few additions) and the ownership deserve time imo. We're on an upwards curve, this has been a disappointment but I believe we can come back fighting.

The manger appointment is crucial, get that and we'll be flying

FWIW everyone saying we need a manager with experience, Will Still has managerial experience in more troubling circumstances than a lot and he's came out of them all positively and left the clubs in better positions (apart from the Clun that went bust <laugh>) he maybe young but he's alot more experienced than people think.

That's if it's him. Which I think it will be

He seems like the obvious one in my eyes.

Has a lot of proven pedigree if you're willing to ignore the football manager stuff.

Just gutted he'll be the first manger younger than me , making me feel ancient and im only 35 <doh><doh><doh><doh>

I’ve listened to a few interviews with him and have been impressed. Would certainly be an exciting appointment.

Definitely mate, and a bit of a statement from the club. As a club we want to get players young and improve them, why not the same with managers?

Will Still could get Reims to Europe this year and be our next manager, yet people are put off due to his age/lack of experience.

The lad seems good enough to me

I kind of feel exactly the same about experience. I feel like it is being thrown around like it is some kind of solution to every single problem the club has. Owner, sporting director, coach, team. Etc.

I don't really see it that way myself.

We've signed plenty of experience in the past and sadly the majority have just come to receive a final paycheck. No desire to succeed.

Yeah experienced players have shortcomings just like young players do. I'm really not desperate to sign a bunch of journeymen who can't grow with the club.

Would he be boss, or would he have to do it all Speakman's way though. Bearing in mind Speakman has no track record as a DOF before us? And given last few windows, hardly looks like we got the right guy..

Still will be used to the Sporting Director system as he works under one at Reims. Pol-Edouard Caillot who is 30 and was previously Chief Scout.

Like we used to ! Quality trumps experience for me. We just need less gambles this time.

If you good enough you're old enough.
The first part is the important bit.
Age doesn't always equate to experience, I mean I'm ancient and still can't kick a ball :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Experience is established, it's proven, but it's also found it's level. I see no problem in picking up a couple of players with experience. But the real difference between this season and last isn't experience in the Championship. It's a lad named Amad, who is young and still trying to be great. Someone who hasn't found his level yet.

The coaching situation is the same for me. Neil and Mowbray had experience and delivered on what they knew. But I'd like to find that coach who hasn't found his level yet. Still and Rohl both fall in that category for me.

I think it's strange how we view experience. I read people saying that coach X has experience of promotion from this league. That they've done it once and failed to do it other times is irrelevant, it seems to be the know how of doing it that's important.

When it comes to players, it's not clear on what the criteria are. Luke O'Nien is "experienced". But Jack Clarke has played more games at this level. So is Clarke more experienced?

Gooch was "experience" that we lost despite leaving at the age of 27 and not knowing what his best position was. Dack is older and has more experience at this level than Gooch but no-one sees that as a win.

Anyone taking 31 year old Josh Scowen back with his experience at this level to play instead of Ekwah?

The key isn't experience at all. It's quality.

He'd be head coach and have to use the players the club have given him. We have a way of working set out by KLD.

KS came out in one of his first interviews and set out the way the team would be assembled:
▪︎ a few academy products fighting for squad inclusion
▪︎ a number of u21s making up the squad
▪︎ a nucleus of 21 - 28 yo being the main part of the team
▪︎ 28+ yo adding experience to the team

When he first came in we were too old, now we're too young. The club have said this needs addressed. Let's give them the summer to do this.

Yes it's his first DOF role and he has made mistakes, we all do. Imo he's done alot more good than bad and deserves a chance to rectify his mistakes. I know people in the club who think he's a nice bloke, I know a couple others who think he's a bellend. It's probably somewhere in the middle.
