I have replied to you on this. Invest in prehab. Not, my username obviously but prehab is specific, high end, tailored programmes for each individual to stop injuries in high end, repetitive movements. Football is exactly this. Prehab can form many different ways and it shouldn't be generic, just the standard approach across the squad. Each player needs to be fully assessed at multiple times in the year and programmes need to be tailored to fit their physiological make up and the outputs they make on the pitch (backed up by data metrics of workload). Inclusion of regular treatments such as ultrasound, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, alternative massage therapy, acupuncture, hyperbaric chambers are just a few. The rest can be made up of the standard gym , bespoke programmes. This is what I believe we have in place. The former is what we don't, it's the expensive part but it is what makes the difference.
I would say you are correct and TBH I expect improvements to happen but again I think a little patience is warranted from fans. I did a long post a few days ago about how every fan wants something different from speakers fixed to availability of replica kits to more experienced players, we have even had people complaining about hand dryers and WiFi, all credible and real complaints from them, but the truth is if the club spent money on every problem at the same time our balance sheet would not look so good and the overall value of the club would decrease, so like any business you plan and prioritise to make sure the right money is spent at the right time in the right places. I have no doubt that KLD and the board have looked at the injuries and may well have plans in the close season to address this, or they may be planning to do it at a later date I really don't know but I am willing to wait and see how it plays out. I don't think we will be able to stop injuries but I do think a top notch rehab would help to bring players back more prepared and ready for the rigors of the league as it is the players who seem to come back and are injured again quickly which worries me but in truth players like Cirkin for example who missed a chunk of last season after being knocked unconscious you can not really legislate for and Huggins was starting to really look sharp and got a different injury. is it just bad luck or is it something else, as some players seem less affected by the same training.
Sorry just replied to you. It's not top notch rehab mate. We outsource most of that anyway. It's too notch preventative prehab that's needed.
This has been going on for over a decade. Patience has been provided. This isn't about kids and hand dryers. Its having a fit and proper medical department to meet the needs of the sport.
I totally agree but this will take time to implement and the point I was making was really to @Grizzled Wanderer who placed a fairly negative post with no solutions I am aware that this subject is a field you work in and it is great that you have that knowledge, but TBH I have not seen you post a negative about this without offering some fact based opinion with it. What I want people to do is base an opinion on some research and put the thought into it which you have done and for that it gives us all something to think about but it was not just a jab at the club for something they may be trying hard to change. FWIW I value strong opinions even if I don't agree with it as long as I can see that there is a bit of balanced thought behind it and some pros and cons have been weighed up, but there is a lot of loose opinion out there based on very little apart from what appears to be a quick jab.
yes but over the last decade we have had different owners and over the last 2-3 years we have seen improvements after the club was basically stripped bare and as much as I wish we were back to where we should be I still think this owner is doing more right than wrong. building the correct medical and Prehab team may well take as long as building the first team and for all I know the work may well have already started and it is being implemented incrementally to spread cost but to also ensure the smoothness of the operations of the club and academy. Sorry if I am a bit behind the conversation as I am replying as I read so I will apologise if I get my wires crossed a bit lol.
That's exactly what I was thinking of. Sorry, I've just rumbled you as being me because we (I?) have a shared cultural reference make sure you avoid the following words when posting, just in case - all of them.
Prehab answered it far better than I ever could, so I left it at that. Nothing sinister, tinfoil (there it is again) hats off. Put it on the file you and the Committee appear to be keeping on me by all means though. You never know what words might crop up for the pin board. Wake up sheeple.
We of all clubs should know the value of this. Two of arguably our best players in the last twenty years were regarded as cripples - Brown and Kirchoff - but somehow we got long runs of games out of them by managing them properly.
The truth is there is no real answer but @Prehab26 was able to give a structured balanced opinion on the subject as he has experience in the subject matter. But you however did not respond which makes me think that your original post was nothing more than a reason to have a dig at the club and that you had put very little thought or understanding into what your gripe was really about. My guess is if it was not that then you may well have found something else to complain about. But if you are to complain then please make sure that there has been a thought process behind it and a bit of reasoning for your opinion otherwise people will mark you as a serial complainer who just looks to drag his own club down wherever he can.
I'd better reply - I'm trying to raise string prices. My thought process behind it is that we've now had the same issue occur in successive seasons and nothing has been done to fix it when it's an obvious priority even to us. There absolutely is an answer. It might be a combination of factors and it might be hard to pin down but we shouldn't just be shrugging our shoulders.
Are all the issues with injuries the same injuries or are they different injuries. Are they happening during training or during games or even at home, as mentioned about Cirkin earlier he was punched in the head which is just an unlucky injury but is an injury non the less. I don't think for 1 minute the club is just shrugging it's shoulders and as for 2 seasons running, last year we did not have a fit centre back for the second leg of a play off game due to injuries and the fact that the season before we were in league 1 and the club were in its infancy with regard to rebuilding a squad decimated by 2 men who had sold our youth team for the price of a packet of biscuits. The problems at the club ran a little deeper than just injury issues.
I just know he has had some treatment after the last game and it wasn't deemed to be too serious at the time.
