Imagine how much extra time the club would have had to address the issues that they inherited if they were'nt having statements demanded off them or people twisting because thing weren't going perfectly 100% of the time.
Boils my piss when the pitchfork brigade wet their knickers when something doesn't go right. Pounds to pennies they don't have the solution to the problems either.

... Leeds, Ipswich and Leicester made a few at the weekend.
That's football, not everything can be planned.
Leicester have cheated, Leeds are falling apart and Ipswich didn't start with Broadhead or Moore yesterday. They only drew and neither scored. Any of those three could fail to go up and I wouldn't fancy Leeds to win the play-offs tbh.
I think this fella is someone who will end up here, I've had a strong feeling about it for a while, when Hjedle got linked I thought it was Cresswell.

Hello marra, when I joined the SMB a few year back I made a post to say hello, but on here I thought it a bit arrogant, so hello people.
It's a much more considered board here, you can actually discuss football and even fail to agree with people without falling out.
Sometimes a poster comes on with some interesting information and isn't hounded off the board.
Of course there is still the odd idiot but they're easily identified and you may even recognise one or two posters.

Does anyone think Liam Delap would be the ideal striker signing in the summer? I mean, given Hull's surge it could be an out of our league signing, but I'd have taken him at the beginning of this season.
I like his physicality, the way he works and seems dangerous. He's not been prolific yet but I don't think we need that.
Loving the Tom Cannon suggestion however, probably more realistic.
I'm of the opinion we need to acquire two strikers this summer, along with a centre mid.

Delap looked a force the second half of our game down there. Hasn’t quite hit the goals for the seniors yet and that would be my only worry. I’d want goals across the front three.
Delap would be good, depending on price - hes physical n works hard, goals should come
Still wouldnt mind gelhardt being 1 of the 2 strikers we'll hopefully bring in.
Him n delap would be good as both very different types of players so would give us different options depending on who we are playing

There was quite a bit of hype surrounding Delap, not sure it's done him any favours. Perhaps he just needs the right club / set up.
Didn't someone mention that there was problem with Cannon's medical when he signed for Leicester? Was it £7M they paid ?
I'm sure that our recruitment team will be doing their homework, but I'd be a bit surprised if we pay anywhere near £5m for a striker in the summer. Unless of course we sell some of our crown jewels.
Just a quick query Scout, would you play Gelhardt as a second striker as in a number 10 role or have him come in off the bench to play there even we're in bed of a goal or such? Would be interested if he starts who you would have him replace in this team
Depends on the players you have around him, still think hes best as a 9. Not your traditional no9 but one who.will hassle defenders and drop in to link up. That is fine if you have players that can run beyond him, which i think in players like jobe adil n rigg we do.
As i said its about options, if we signed gelhardt id like another striker who offers the treat in behind a defence with a bit of pace n power.

Not for me. All fart and no ****e. Fella is allergic to goals. Plenty of game time here. 3 goals. Zero goals this season and can not get a kick of Leeds. His career to date shows he doesn't score consistently.
He is still young but I think we have players like him already. A link, player across the front 4. Bollocks to that. Get a proper 9 in who scores. No more wide players who can play as a 9. It's what our issue has been for years. Djaku mark II.

As i mentioned id want a no9 type as well, i just think gelhardt is a cracking player who played well for us and got better as the season went on last yr. Gelhardt would be a good signing for us imo, aslong as we also sign a striker with a bit of presence about them. We need 2 strikers imo so what im saying is id be happy if one of them is gelhardt.
We are unlikely to sign a striker who has been really profilic throughtout their career at a good level, these cost a fortune and theres not many around at championship level.
I understand the uncertainty behind Gelhardt, but I reckon he's a good player. Reckon he'd suit Ipswich.
I think in the right team there is a quality footballer, thats what teams have got to do - find players that could become really good for them.
Look at gyokeres, he had a loan spell at swansea where he didnt score or create a goal - looked poor. Coventry saw something in him and he was class for them, scored goals and was sold for big money. Now im not saying gelherdt will ever be that type of striker, but my point is it doesn't really matter what theyve done before its finding a player that can help us now that we also see upside in
I think Gelhardt would be a good signing for the right team, obviously depends on who our manager is and what they want from a no9 as to whether he will be a fit for us or not
