Have many said no way to Robins? I think he’s a great coach - regularly gets the better of us. Him being keen on coming is another thing.

That's very true but also true that he was sacked after a few months at Leeds, sacked after 8 months at Hibs and sacked with his Sheff Utd team near the bottom. What worries me, with him, is that he has a a very pragmatic style and would bring his pragmatic Yorkshire mates with him.
TBH, I'd rather have a wild 'we'll score more than you attitude' like Ipswich, than a gritty Yorkshire grind to the PL.
Robins won't move anywhere imo ...

The coverage that he received when it became clear he was doing well, very young, and without the required coaching qualifications made him high profile. Everyone is intrigued by a wunderkind. None of that necessarily makes him ideal for us but I think people see him as an ambitious target because he's quite high profile.
The way I see it, whoever gets the job wants what we want, i.e. success for the club, so whether they are on my wish list or not, I'll be completely behind them.
As others have said, there are no guarantees he would succeed here, same as any coach
I remember chuckling to myself when he done the tactics board talk of how he got a point... then right at the end mentioned that none of the big lads played for PSG that day.
I think I've said before, I'm keeping counsel on the new coach and whom it may be, because 9 times out of 10, its someone thats never been mentioned.
I totally agree. I'm not bothered either way by him. I can see why the club might be interested in him though- PR.

Definitely think he's a risk. Although there's an element of risk in any appointment. But for some people, it'll look like the club are being ambitious and I think that will appeal to them following the negative reaction to Beale, who was probably no more of a risk than Still would be.
When Still was mentioned last time around I'd never heard of him. Watched all his interviews and bits and pieces on youtube and wasn't massively enamored with him...thought he came off as a bit pretentious and even maybe a bit naive.
However, I've mellowed on him. If he's as full of himself as he seems and is carrying the reputation he seems to be I think it might be perfect timing, similar to how it was with keane.
Keane was just the right man at the right time with drumaville and our plight at the time. I think confidence, momentum and presence is just as key with managers as it is with players and with squads in general. I'd give him a go if it's doable. I think it could work.

He is an interesting coach for sure. I am just not sure everything he seems to believe in as a coach matches up with ourselves. I also think some of the Reims achievements are a little overblown, personally.
In terms of achievements we talk about Reims punching above their weight and Still as the leader of that. I read somewhere recently they have the 12 biggest budget. They look likely to finish 7th - 10th. So they are punching but is it really that big an achievement? How do Brest compare in looking capable of finishing second? Last year he had the benefit of Balogun on loan, who was a but like Diallo for us in terms of impact. The PSG results often get talked up but I am sure the first was against a second string and one was against 10 men. He produced a great unbeaten run when he first took over there. I do get the impression though he hasnt been intune with the club and has been openly critical. He has bemoaned the need to sell his better players, and the loss of his main midfielder in Jan really irked him. I wonder if that really fits into our way of doing things.
In terms of his style of play he relishes crosses into the box, which arguably we dont have the players for. He likes a hard running number 9 who will work the channels. Again we dont have that. He is very aggressive out of play, with high numbers of fouls and tackles (Trai likes this
). Only my view, but I wouldnt be rushing to bring him in based on the admittedly little evidence available. But if he does then it will be a welcome home Will from me.

I think they're great in certain situations ...
... but they're only really happy amongst their own and too easily satisfied with their achievements imo.
I do have some great Yorkie mates though tbf.
I would like to think we would try and persuade him. If says no then fair enough. I would hope we are seen as a club with potential to go higher than we are now and that Robins himself sees himself as the man to take us higher. You said earlier no existing prem club takes him, and I agree. But I think he could take one to the prem - might be his only route. The question for him would be how close he thinks he is with Coventry I think.
TBH that's my problem with him.
Staying, all those years, with a club that's clearly lacking ambition makes me think he just wants a cosy life where he's well liked ...
... he seems happy in the lower leagues, which is fair enough, but I want Sunderland to look a lot higher.
