To be fair, I have no agenda and ignore everyone else’s points, that would be my prerogative cos I’m a know it all clever bastard
Personally hope the owner stays and grows the club - I don't think we will progress much with Speakman having so much influence. So somewhere in the middle as you describe.
It's pointless going on about Michael bloody Beale. We're not going to agree about him. We just have to accept that some of us are right and some of us are wrong What we really do need, is to recognise that the next Head Coach, whoever he might be, needs to be given time. Both by the board and by the fans.
Once people make their mind up, that’s their choice but if you think there are Sunderland fans would want them to crash and burn at the detriment of the club, then in my opinion you are mistaken. I’m not a fan of Speakman, would I want him to prove me wrong, of course I would become it means we are on the right road. But how long do you have to keep asking to be proved wrong, that’s just a generic question by the way, not suggesting an agenda against Speakman or owt.
What's he done wrong though? This season hasn't gone particularly well but everything up until now has been good. Sacking him on the basis of one disappointing (not poor) season seems reactionary to me.
that's the thing mate i really do someone comment on here the other day he was thankful that's dodds done so bad because it ment speakman couldn't give him the job, so he's thankful we've lost just so dodds wouldn't get the job,
I do have patience, because I listened to the owner say its a 5 year plan to get to the PL so i'm not going to kick off when it's year 3 and we are having a mid table season. My agenda is not PL. It's having a club I enjoy and feel at home at and this regime have done that more than any owners in my lifetime.
Because its less relevant than the last year to now on the football side of things. Not recognising we are sliding is the equivalent of resting on your laurels as you head backwards quickly. Obviously some things off the pitch are a lot better (debacle of the fa cup game aside) like the academy is holding onto or getting decent money for prospects and the pitch at the SoL is much better looked after tbf.
Even with everything falling nicely into place, we were most likely not going to improve upon 6th this season. The main reason we have fallen slightly below my expectations are due to our shocking injury list and not having at least a competent regular striker. Everything else that has gone wrong (Mowbray sacking, Beale, Dodds, poor performances) have been the knock on effect. We get a decent manager in, spend the Clarke money on 2-3 decent players before the start of the season, full squad available, then we can try again for the play offs.
“What’s he done wrong”, followed by “this season hasnt gone particularly well”. He has failed to meet the owners demands if you listened to him back in June. You see, we must have different standards which doesn’t make either of us wrong, you don’t think this season has been poor, I do . I think we missed a great opportunity by not signing a decent striker in god knows how many seasons, Burstow, Hjelde, Styles, awful signings, Hemir, Mayenda , should have been brought in for the young uns not the first team. I happen to think he has bought/ loaned some absolute chuff who won’t make it here.
Sad but true, even making up future scenarios with which to criticise the club ... ... 'if we appoint Heckinbottom next week, why didn't we appoint him last week?' That's it for me, it's all just too tedious. I'll ignore this thread unless there's any actual news. This keeps going back to Mowbray, Neil and even Johnson, I'm off before Jack Ross makes an appearance
Okay, so are you suggesting that Coastals, is not the same? Are you suggesting his agenda is having a club he hates and is alien to him? Maybe he could accuse you of having lower standards. That’s the bit I’m arguing for, of course he wants the same thing, wether that’s you with lower standards or his impatience, it’s still nonsense to suggest that any fan wants the club to crash and burn so they can tell you I told you so.
But every club will have disappointing seasons, by the standards of that club, from time to time. That's the nature of sport. Sometimes things just don't go your way and it's no one's fault. Any professional outfit will have a thorough review of why it didn't work out, of course. If you could say, "right, we'll finish 5th this year", and it be guaranteed, there would be no point in watching or taking part in sport.
1.Appointed Beale 2.Appointed Dodds/Proctor writing off 3 months of the season. 3. Spouted condescending rubbish about best ever training sessions and PPPs. 4. Failed to sign a good striker for 3 windows 5. Failed to sign a c.midfielder to replace Evans for 2 windows. 6. Tries to bluff us that auchiche and rusyn give us experienced players. 7. Refuses to tweak 'the model' seemingly
Anyway, Reims are on TNT Sport 3 at 2pm if anyone wants to watch our potential new coach Will Still. Hard game against Nice.
And therefore it doesn’t mean that fans can’t be disappointed without being accused of having an agenda.
Still tbh. He's not an ex-player, like Rooney, who doesn't know what to do when he's finished playing and obviously doesn't speak English, well enough, to be a pundit. Whereas Still seems to have dedicated himself to coaching & modern methods, he's done a good job at more than one club and has no particular affiliations to any English club. We have talented foreign players who the last managers felt uncomfortable uncomfortable with. Mowbray clearly couldn't cope with languages and for that reason, don't want Heckingbottom. I think he'd ignore the likes of Aouchiche and Ekwah who are clearly very good players in need of serious coaching. Rusyn was thrown on by Mowbray and clearly either hadn't been given instructions or understand them. We're a modern forward looking club and need a matching manager imo.
