Could have brought on White for Longstaff and either Diallo (my preference) or Ritchie for Barnes. Matched energy. Barnes was knackered after 45 minutes and Longstaff, assuming due to injury, wasn’t making any tackles and losing possession every time he had ball.
Get what you mean but even then White isn't Joelinton or Tonali and Diallo or Ritchie aren't Gordon or Almiron, energy wise yeah it could have helped but we'll never know but quality wise we were on a hiding to nothing yesterday imho. When Pope, Trippier, Tino, Lascelles, Botman, Targett, Joelinton, Tonali, Miley, Gordon, Almiron, Wilson are all missing and Willock, Barnes, Anderson, Krafth aren't fully match fit either it makes it very difficult when 12 players are missing and another 4 aren't really ready to do the full game. Longstaff is clearly struggling as well and I hope Eddie can get him out of the team to give him a rest ASAP with Willock and Anderson playing alongside Bruno but clearly Sean is being used to allow the others to get fitter again before he get's to rest up his injury.
Newcastle are a one dimensional outfit regardless of who is available, it's all huff and puff and unfortunately it's resulted in the squad being decimated with injury and fatigue problems. This isn't going to go away .. it'll be exactly the same next season unless the working practices are changed rather than just throwing more fuel the managers way. This intensity nonsense just hasn't proved practical and Howe shouldn't just be provided more money to can keep putting out the flames on his back. I know people don't like me saying these things, but changes are needs somewhere off the pitch. If Howe can do that great, but he didn't at Bournemouth and he isn't showing any signs of it here.
They never will be if they never play. White was denied an extension to his loan but is now not even called upon. Other teams have managed to start youngsters. Some will fail (Jak Alnwick) some will star (Lewis Miley) some will start slow and naturally get better (Anderson). We have some cracking prospects but looks like it could all be wasted
Honestly you have to wonder how many talented players get missed by these overrated puppets clubs put in place all over the world.
So you don't think the injuries have anything to do with the performance yesterday? Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Target, Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton, Almrion, Gordon, Isak Subs: Dubravka, Tino, Burn, Hall, Willock, Anderson, Barnes, Murphy, Wilson We had 3 players from our best XI available yesterday, a few who are playing don't even make the squad when everyone is fit and available and like I say we certainly don't have players like Krafth and Dummy who've managed a handful of appearances over the last 2 season coming into the team at pivotal moments. 99% sure when you saw that team last night, like most, you would have thought "Wouldn't be surprised if we get beat here". Like I say you can throw all the accusations around and say its x player or the managers fault but not sure what people expect with 12 first team/squad players not being available and a number of those playing having limited match fitness this year.
Remember Allardyce and his 'team of captains'? I'm sure there was a game where the minimum age in our starting 11 was 31. Fantastic youth development.
We all understand that. What some of us don’t understand is why we’re not utilising some of our younger players. Joe White, Diallo, Murphy for example could have all played yesterday and do a job. Longstaff and Barnes were not doing any job in the second half.
Saw this online for last night: Newcastle Utd unavailable XI Pope Trippier Lascelles Botman Livramento Joelinton Tonali Miley Almiron Wilson Gordon
Yes mate because what I'm saying is that the managers style of play and overly intense training sessions are an issue... I believe Atsu said his training was too much.....once this guys gone the truth will come out. He's also not identified that Hall is our best left back by miles and avoided playing him until every other possible option was ruled out by injuries, so how can we trust him moving forward? How many of the other youth players are better than longstaff and dummett? This will all lead to the end of his reign it's clear to me that this manager isn't good enough and has major flaws and/or favouritism issues. These are just how I see things based on the evidence and time will tell I guess. It's absolutely fine for people believe in this guy, but I have made my judgement and I'm sure if I'm wrong people will remind me because it's the unpopular view.
Agree maybe Eddie could be a bit braver in his use of younger players - but I have no doubt if Isak is on side for the BDB disallowed goal and then finishes his chance later and we are 3-0 up with 15-20 to go Eddie would make those changes but you can't chuck the kids in the deep end in a close game with top pros. Clearly as dummy demonstrated you can't even chuck an experienced lad in in those circumstances otherwise they do stupid **** and gift away penalties etc.
Experience of being useless is what these guys have. It sounds horrible, but it's the truth. It's not like throwing a player like Coleman in like they did. At least he used to be a good player.
Pope Trippier Schar Botman Hall Joelinton Tonali Bruno Gordon Isak Almiron (Willock, Miley, Anderson, Livramento, Wilson, Barnes, Lascelles) that team would have absolutely smashed Everton last night. I put Miggy to start cause I think his press would have put the ****s up Everton.
