A day of emotion, its 5.15 in the morning and already I feel it.
I have a feeling it will be a big crowd, like the Romans at the coliseum looking more at the technical area than the pitch at times.
First emotion will come at 12.45 when I see Bruce arrive and go in, he has looked nervous for the last few games, unsure of the reception he will get so hurries in, today the nervous will be there for all to see.
Next at 1 the players will start to arrive, they tend to look fine and give little away so lift the spirits.
2.10, in my seat with radio on and coffee in hand then I hear, its over to the SoL, we have team news, now that can be a killer, I hear Westwood, Bardsley, Oshea,Brown,Turner,Larsson,Sess, Bendtner, then the other 3 and its those 3 that lift me or depress me, what will it be today.
The players come out for their warm up but I rarely see that, to busy talking to those around me,
âWhat the **** is he doingâ, or, âWell I'm very happy with thatâ, debate follows with one chap who never fails to tell us how this is going to happen, I read it in The Sun, ffs is the group sigh.
2.55, the teams come out, we stand and applaud but all around you can see nervous faces and we break into a cheer that is more a release of tension.
45 minutes of heaven, hell or indifference later we stand, look at each other and prepare for the second half, we could be 4 up but would still fear the worst, we are
after all Sunderland.
Second half starts then 25 minutes in a substitution, usually followed with, what the ****.
Full time and a final emotion, anger/joy/numbness, what will it be.
Please, please, please, give us a little joy just this once.
