Think we just want a holding pen for visas and a place we can get mens football intoa few 21 lads who might not get a pro opportunity in the EFL. I wouldn't look at it much more than that at the moment .
It's to replace the U21s fixtures basically. Like was said at the meeting the other day, the U18s are going to be put into the U21s and the U21s loaned out to first teams elsewhere. That's it in theory, in practice, we need to have players good enough for teams to want to take them. Otherwise, we might as well just let them go and not bother.
Let’s assume Philogene and Greaves are both sold in summer, it leaves us with the below….we’re so ****ed Allsop Ingram Pandur Jones Coyle McLoughlin Furlong Jacob Seri Tufan Slater Omur
I don't think that's too bad at all but it's what happens when you rely heavily on loans. You have to sign 10 players every summer
We’ve got the most players on loan (6) in the Championship (except for The Massive). We also have the greatest value of loan players (€46million). For what it’s worth we also have the second highest number of players out on loan.
We’ve only got six due to the Delap injury, had he not got injured, we’d have stuck with five, the same as five other clubs (Swansea also have six).
It is a big rebuild. In some ways that's a good thing. It's a shame though that a lot of players we don't really want will still be under contract, and probably impacting our ability to spend. Having lots of loan players is the reality for us because we don't have the budget to get all the quality players we need on permanent deals.
That's assuming we don't re-integrate any of our dozen players out on loan. Simons, Woods, Longman, etc.
Greaves will be replaced with Chambers at Villa. Weren't we in for him in Jan. Giles surely be on a perm. Connoly no doubt will be extended also.
It also assumes we won’t have any youth players stepping up, the likes of Smith, Jarvis (?), Jacob and Mills will want to be pushing for the first team.
It’s also assuming we don’t get another 5 decent youth players on loan. I presume Liverpool and Man City will be happy with the development of Morton and Delap. What we’ve done with Jaden will also attract positivity from other teams towards sending prospects here. The loan market has always been key to a good Championship squad. The squad above also misses who we buy with the money if we sell Greaves and Jaden. If we don’t they are still here. It’s a rebuild, sure, but the Championship increasingly feels like a division with a lot of squads in transition. The key is getting it right.
Smith and Vaughan both can’t get a game for their respective league 1 clubs, why on earth would they be good enough for championship play off ambitions. Mills maybe now he’s playing again, I don’t think Rosenior fancies Jarvis at all.
