Whilst I accept the averages regarding a coach, I would love us to get one that grows with us and we build something really special. I accept its not the norm, but if we could find our Wenger, Klopp or Fergie and have them growing alongside the club. Football has probably moved on though and that's unrealistic
I look at QPR appointing Marti Cifuentes from Hammerby and Sheff Wed appointing Danny Rohl for his first head job and them both doing excellent jobs considering the circumstances both arrived into and think why do we seem reluctant to make a brave appointment in terms of both the person and the timing. We have a chance to make an appointment now and either make a late run for the top 6 (highly unlikely I know) or give them a big head start for next season while not really being at fault for whatever results happen for the rest of this season. There's plenty really good coaches out there but we seem happy to just plod along till the summer and it doesn't sit right with me. It would be such a brave and forward thinking move to go all out for someone right now to give the fans and the club a huge boost but it just seems unlikely to happen.
This is true but its also why I think if you're going to do things this way you have to stick to it. Getting your processes in place when it's easier so that you're well practised when things get harder.
If we dont appoint now I would worry about the club. It would smack of ignorance about football to me. These next 10 weeks biggest in KLD time here for me.
Just feels like wasted time if we do nothing. Appointing now would give the coach time to implement a new style/formation and in turn that gives the recruitment team a chance to look at what we need. For instance, you mentioned the Brentford assistant, if he were to come in that would possibly lead to playing a variation of the 3-5-2 they play at Brentford, we would need to recruit specific players for that setup and appointing now gives us a chance to see who fits and who doesn't, instead of doing that at the back end of august/january.
I don’t think not appointing now makes us arrogant. I think it’s an admission that the next appointment is going to be somebody currently in work. People are more likely to leave jobs in the off season. If it is Still (and it might not be obviously) then I know he’d come with a big compensation payment now but not in the summer. Will obviously be pretty underwhelming however to wait until the summer and then end up with somebody who’s been twiddling their thumbs . And as has been said, will have been a huge missed opportunity
So what are you actually doing about it, other than moaning on a tiny chat forum with 100 people? Every Sunderland supporter wants us to be better than we currently are, you're no different to anyone else. Some just don't have to moan in every single post.
I tried that last week, and got asked to stop posting on here for 1, Also I made a few other remarks to KS to his face before you ask, and yes he is feeling the heat, that's in IMHO incase you try to use my words in a different way.
Maybe we’ve got our man lined up but he’s not available until the end of the season. If that is the case I’d rather we stick with Dodds for now.
'Made a few remarks' .... that means nothing, I made a few remarks to the barmaid at the Railway yesterday.
The club is better than it's been for years ... ... a few bad months then some people get hysterical and expect everyone else to behave like them. I have more self respect.
I'd rather we signed a Mowbray type until the end of the season, I'm losing confidence in Dodds pretty rapidly. Doesn't matter a great deal who it is as long as it's someone with common sense who can inject some energy and belief back into the club.
Some never seem to be happy, it's KLDs 3rd season in charge, 1st season promotion, 2nd play offs and 3rd season looks like miserable finish. They have made a few mistakes but what owners don't make mistakes.
