Coronation Street star John Savident has died aged 86, it has been confirmed.

The actor was known for his booming voice while playing butcher Fred Elliott on the ITV soap.

Fred is well remembered by fans for his friend Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) declaring her love for him just as he was due to marry Bev Unwin (Susie Blake)

Grange Hill star Stuart Organ, who was best known for playing Peter Robson in the children's television drama, has died aged 72.

The British actor played a firm but fair role as a PE teacher in the drama, going on to become the longest-serving member of staff at the school.

His representative revealed he 'died peacefully at home after a short illness' on Friday.

    Stan Bowles RIP
Great character and very skilful player.. Won 1 or maybe 2 England caps under Don Revie
Instead of being disciplined I'm sure one of his clubs sent him to play for Carlisle as a punishment. It was just far enough to get him away. I'm sure he said he enjoyed it. Chip off the old block.

    Stan Bowles. R.I.P.
Simply wonderful player and always looked as though he was enjoying it.
A cheeky chappie in the same vein as Rodney Marsh and George Best. A pleasure to watch.

The news of Stan Bowles passing reminds me of this article published after George Best's funeral...

Edit: Clearly no intention of disrespect to any of the names mentioned in the article from me.

Richard Lewis has died at the age of 76 after a years-long battle with Parkinson's disease, it has been confirmed.

Bette Midler was first to announce news of the comedian's death on X, writing: 'On a sad note, the great Richard Lewis has died.'

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star Lewis - who is survived by his wife Joyce Lapinsky - had an illustrious career in Hollywood as an actor, writer, and comedian.
