Andreas Brehme, who scored West Germany's winning goal in the 1990 World Cup final, has died at the age of 63. The left-back slotted home the decisive 85th-minute penalty as Franz Beckenbauer's side beat Argentina 1-0 in Rome. Brehme played 86 times for Germany during his playing career and for Kaiserslautern, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan among others at club level.
This was such a shock when I heard this afternoon. A great player who could take free kicks and penalties with both feet . It looked like he had gained some weight from his playing days but still looked good and he had been plugging his book .
Until now, his timing has always been perfect - taken far too early. RIP First time I saw this I nearly wet myself ...
Rob Crossland 57, former vice Chairmen of Hull KR, lifelong Rovers and Man City fan. Neil Hudgell leads tributes as former Hull KR vice chairman Rob Crossland passes away - Hull Live (hulldailymail.co.uk) R.I.P.
Sad news. Never knew the man personally but I know he was the man Neil Hudgell used to reply on when a bill needed paying at Rovers and there was nothing in the till. He helped the club in ways many people will never know about and he will be sadly missed. No age too, a massive loss to the club. Never knew he was a lifelong fan of Hull City as he didn't live in the area and surprised to read on Hull Live today that he was a Manchester City fan.
Just heard about the sad passing of Martin Botham. Any decent amateur footballers out there, and golfers, will know Martin. Once met, never forgotten. Huge, huge character, and a massive adovacate for Hull and Cottingham where he lived. First met Both years ago in a five a side tournement, and if you didn't know him, he only had one arm, and he was in goal! Despite his disability Martin was a fierce competitior on and off the field. Good friend of Ian Ashbee who admired him, which tells you a lot. Martin will be sadly missed by his family and friends and the landlords in Cottingham. RIP matey, they threw away the mould when they made Martin Botham, for there will be no other.
Yep remember him RIP A right dirty bastard at football He used to stick that stump in your face then moan to the ref whenever someone had a go at him Remember him doing it to Steve skip(Pete’s brother) at YPI Next challenge skip nearly put him through the boards RIP
