Cooper BSA
If BSA is Allardyce there is no chance. Wouldn't work in the current set up as he likes to signs his own players (preferably ones connected to agents he knows)!
Cooper BSA
The 2 that stand out are both hugely ambitious shouts and perhaps just out of our range. It would be a couple for the club to get either.
Steve Cooper and Will Still.
Cooper has excellent Championship form having guided Swansea to the playoffs twice and then getting Forest promoted. He also has good England youth experience which is a positive given the age of our squad.
He is highly rated though and will definitely want to go back in at Premier League level (or maybe even fancy the England job after the Euros). We won't be his first choice and he might have an eye on how some things unfold between now and the summer at other clubs.
Still appears to have been the choice last time but it didn't happen for various reasons. His release clause changes in the summer and he will be in our reach financially. He's still very highly rated and doing a good job at Reims. I think his profile is something the club like too. A young coach with huge potential syncs up with our recruitment style.
There's a strong chance he'll have an opportunity to get a Premier League job though, if not another top jobs in Europe. It's unclear also if any bridges we're burned during the December debacle. Did anyone renege on a promise or back out of the deal etc.
I wouldn't blame the ownership for not being able to get either of these 2, but I think there's a slim chance we could and we should be exploring it.

Wonder how much that will be?I'm also convinced the compo cost for the sake of 6 months was what put us off when we got rid of Mowbray. I think if Still comes he will be allowed his no2.
I believe the plan because of the compo was to give the job to Dodds till the summer then bring in Still
However I think they would also been aware of Beales record as a coach and maybes though him and dodds could make a decent team.
It really didn't work out that way and to be quite honest I don't think dodds would have really done much better. Beale is supposed to be an excellent coach as is Dodds but I don't see dodds as the main man either. He had 2 really good results then we were **** in the 3rd.
Although we have been **** under Beale I think this seasons outcome will be the same other than the compo we pay Beale.
Let's see how well we can finish this season and bring Still in as early as possible
I hope the conversation goes something like this.....I think the club will at least speak to Frank Lampard. Just my opinion before the tomatoes start getting thrown.
Or "Hi Frank, have you got Graham Potter's phone number?"I hope the conversation goes something like this.....
"Hi, it's Frank"
"**** off".

Has Will Still actually achieved anything?
He's been nominated for the Raymond Goethals award. So there's thatHas Will Still actually achieved anything?

Can't see it personally. Think his stock tumbled with that caretaker spell.
He's had Chelsea and Everton in the Prem. He could be one of these that's no quite good enough for the Prem, but more than capable in the Championship. Just another name mate in the hat, mate. Won't happen, but something to consider.

To be fair, Still said he didn't want to come to Sunderland ...
... which is quite an obstacle in getting him to come here.
That's the problem with the argument that 'the club needs to show ambition' etc.
We're a recent L1 basket case where players, like Grigg, had to literally be bribed to come. Of course it would be lovely if we could pick & choose between Cooper, Still, Potter, etc, but we're just another Championship hopeful in reality ...
... Birmingham have shown how difficult it is to bring in the right manager, three so far this season.
Sometimes, like Leicester and Ranieri, you get the right man entirely by accident.
Maresca was a hell of an appointment mind he will go far.
