I read somewhere that each and every household in the city would have to pay nearly £3k a year in Council Tax to balance the books. I guess that selling the stadium to HCAFC may become a viable option to reduce the debt. I absolutely love the idea of shipping the fatties out!.…..they could possibly play on asda kingswood car park....as when i do ny shopping there when the fatties are "at home"their is plenty of "fans" wearing that ridiculous black n white shirt

There are two perfect bits of farmland one between Willerby Parkway and castle hill , the other I still say is the land between Lowdiekd Rd Anlaby and first lane ,the site already has Priory Wolves on part of it and about 5 pitches with load is room for expansion and development it’s green belt . The flood issue is not applicable as it is now surrounded by be flood relief .

nah, if you want industrial, the Man U training ground at Carrington is overlooked by a disused Shell refinery, it’s like a Mad Max set. Melton would be fine as ERYC like their business parks to be landscaped and have trees etc. Agree a location on the A63 would be ideal.

I’m sure there’s plenty of suitable locations in the area, but it will it all come down to the accompanying business plans that make it financially viable and which council they can do business with. There’s always a curveball of North Lincolnshire having lots of cheap farmland within 10 minutes drive of the bridge…

Pretty sure I sat with him 25 years ago setting up a community breast screening clinic.

If its the same person he could probably see the current training ground from his bedroom as a child, although it was Ellemonds(sp?)/Northern foods back then.

I would hope if/when we go up we put aside a percentage of the PL money to devote to infrastructure improvements, as it may not be financially viable otherwise. In the same way Luton have devoted a portion of their PL earnings to their new stadium. I think it needs to be done right and not half-arsed which will obviously mean spending a fair bit, but the benefits will be huge.

Why do we need to wait until promotion to fix the training ground mess? We must have the worst facilities in the whole championship, it’s embarrassing.

I didn't necessarily mean wait but that we need to take advantage of the PL money to do it properly. It they want to put their own money in before then, no issues from me, but it'd require a lot.

I’d assumed that it was developed there because it was the final piece of ERYC flood defence? If we had a say one in 20 years weather incident, the open fields would hold the excess water. Not ideal to have the football pitches under water for a few weeks but far better than them not capturing it in an emergency. I know the fella who designed the football pitch development there. I bumped into him ( ironically, watching cricket at Ionians which is another site mentioned in this discussion) after a lot of years and he told me that at the time he was working on it). He is a Senior Architect for East Riding Council. Would they really really put one of their top fellas on a project involving a few football pitches and dressing rooms unless it was linked to next door’s flood defence? Just an assumption I made.

Regarding Acun’s preferred option of expanding land around the stadium it could be relevant that Hull CC have/had some very ambitious plans for developing the hospital site. I have no idea whether that plan is still in place. Apart from a large piece of protected land (****ing newts) in between, the land is adjacent to the stadium, with a railway line running through. The one item of interest I do remember from the hospital plans was that it included a railway terminal.
So we have a City Council with ambitious plans to develop a hospital site, though presumably requires private investment, almost adjacent to an area an ambitious and affluent owner who has the backing of an even richer biscuit tycoon is desperate to develop. There is a large wedge of land in between probably prime for development, which includes a railway line offering an immediate solution to any transport issues. Sorry newts, it’s time to move on. I would be very surprised if discussion haven’t been held.
