More than the site limitations, this is my biggest issue with it as a training ground site. We’re currently way behind the times and bringing new players to the current training ground does us absolutely no favours. What ever was built on the site, it would still be off Anlaby Road, so you’re knackered before you’ve started.
Walton street is an awful location, setting idea and there's no positive for it at all. The site needs to be west of the city in Melton/welton/brough/cave area. Full first team and academy set up all on one site and built with the next 20yrs of growth and success in mind
Some clown who works for the BBC thinks it should include a new arena for the Seahawks. Does he think the site is some sort of Tardis? Not to mention why should City’s owners fund the local ice hockey team. All irrelevant anyway as the site is, as others have said, totally unsuitable. Typical of Hull is a councillor asking someone to see him with new plans. They should be chasing after people to invest money. But we have had to previously deal with the likes of Geraghty who said City being in the PL did not bring a penny into the city and never mentioned we were the only Yorkshire club in the PL when awarded City Of Culture but informed everyone Hull was a sporting city, not only did its people love rugby league but darts and wrestling as well. Afraid things will never change.
View attachment 308081 Never pays to be shy[/QUOTE] Looks like the lumi to Bolton, as for Walton Street, forget it. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Aerial view of The Lawns. First time I've drawn a line around a photo. It's like being back at Primary School again
Questions from the audience included why can't the rugby team pay for a new pitch as it's they who've ruined it and when will Tan fix the broken showers in the Gemtec arena for the walking football teams. Opening comment, after probably the best transfer window we've ever had, was that we're missing a clogger in midfield. God knows what Tan must have taken from it.
That one was laughed off by Burnsy and the others. He was told to ask a better question instead. The first question, the one about leadership, was that typical generic football fan waffle where they just totally detach from what's actually going on at the current time and just list some traditional moans. I do wonder when we will ever stop bemoaning the lack of an Ashbee. It's unlikely anyone will ever repeat his achievements so he'll always be this unreachable standard for others to be compared to.
The council want the rich from the West suburbs of Hull and rich football fans to pay for everything . They love Sewell and they keep lining his pockets with contracts same with there was nothing wrong with Jacky Pallo at City Hall! Don’t understand the down playing of Anlaby Rd it’s got a whole host of new honest hardworking purveyors of fine foods and other luxuries , you can tell it’s upcoming by the BMW weve used ‘em to roll it flat !
I thought (vaguely remember) the problem with the pitch had a lot to do with the relative positioning of the stadium to the sun throughout the year and the lack of air circulation inside the 'bowl' due to the actual stadium design.
I'm sure the pitch hadn't been an issue for the last few years, since we got those heat lamps for the winter, but clearly the issue has reared it's head again now. I'm sure I saw someone say recently that it's because of the age of the pitch, but it also seems like they talk about relaying it almost every summer.
Air circulation can't really be an issue, if it is all they have to do is open the 4 corner tunnels (at the same time)
If Acun, Tan & Liam can’t convince the sun to come up in line with the pitch they’re not trying hard enough…
