I don't think we'd need to change the way we play a huge amount. At the minute the ball usually bounces off whoever we play up front, imagine if a new man could make half those balls stick. When we're under pressure we'd be adding the option to hit it up there, hold if up and drag us up the pitch. We wouldn't be losing anything. We'd be going back to the way we played with Stewart rather than going long ball all of a sudden.
Why because we dont want to overspend on wages? I would say doing something different to the norm is being ambitious which is what we are trying to do. Reading wigan derby are all teams recently that have overspent on wages and almost gone out on business, thats not being ambitious thats being reckless
Just going off Prehab saying they’re trying for a striker. With Moore looking Ipswich bound I’m assuming it’s someone else we’re after.
I couldn't say. I'm glad we're not doing such a foolish thing. However Ipswich are gunning for the PL.
Without all the facts it's difficult to excuse or condemn the club/model imo. We've no idea what players are demanding and whether signing them would disrupt the squad. Mundle has been given a four and a half year contract which is a lot of wages. Signing the wrong player, who may devalue, on such a contract is a big risk especially if that's repeated. That's all supposition but that's all we have imo ... ... I can't remember a time when so little was leaked regarding signings, etc.
True. But 2 years is more than sufficient to bring ina striker who can perform consistently in this league. If it isn't, then something has to change. It's still a major weak area of the team and sorting it will increase our chances of progress.
Some of our ****ing moron fans on twitter! Speakman says Mundle is an exciting signing, fan says what’s exciting about a player who has played academy games! Literally looking for **** to throw at the club hierarchy
Get your point, but what can change? If (pure speculation) a player asked for £35k a week, should we pay it just to appease? Bad for the club, but the fans are happy? if a player won’t move up here, do we agree to ferry them from London? I don’t know if it can change. Moore would be an ideal player at this level. But he’s on £40k a week at Bournemouth or something! Crazy.
Yeah, lots of things don't help but it is what it is. 2 years and 3 or 4 windows is enough time to sort and if it isn't, ideals and parameters have to change. Anyway, they are on with one now. So hopefully it gets sorted.
It would have made perfect sense for us to do so if we were in Ipswich's position. But for us to shell out the good end of £2m on a player that will leave in the summer is a bit reckless. Let's see what today brings.
if we bring a good striker in I’d say this has been a good window. Obviously the proof will be in the performances rest of season, but on paper at least
Doesn't have to be Moore. Just an out and out striker will do. Not a winger who can float in the forward positions. Rusyn, mayenda, Mundle, Clarke, BA. They are all the same style. IMO we need to adjust and go for a more established number 9. They probably thought Burstow was up to it but was a stretch. Same as Hemir. But yeah, they need to sort it like.
Both sides of that are right though. Yes he's an exciting signing. For the future. Less exciting for what we need right now based on him only playing a handful of first team games. If only there were some way to, I dunno, this sounds crazy but hear me out here, sign some for the future and some for now?
All about the money innit? Coventry paying £8m for Simms, or Ipswich paying Moore £30k pw. Just not going to happen under current ownership What I am surprised at is that we haven't taken a gamble on a striker from lower leagues like Langstaff. Small cost punt to see if he can do it higher up
