The hosts are not yet out of competition but face a nervous wait to find out if they'll qualify for the last 16 by virtue of being one of the best third-placed teams in the group stages. After their three games, Ivory Coast are third in Group A on three points but with a minus-three goal difference. Seri and his countrymen will be watching the remaining group stage games intently over the next 48 hours to see if their three points will be enough to see them secure safe passage, with their fate decided by Wednesday evening. Should that not happen and the hosts are eliminated, Seri would return to East Yorkshire and be available for City's next Championship match against Millwall at the MKM Stadium on Saturday week, and while going out early would be a major blow to Seri, it would be a timely boost for Liam Rosenior and the Tigers.
An Egypt draw or win and either of Ghana or Mozambique to win their match up would mean the 3rd place in their group would be better than Ivory Coast. Egypt currently 0-0, Ghana just took the lead.
Foxes vs the tractor boys is a crap game, Ipswich will fall like a stone mark my words. Leicester I don’t think are world beaters apart from a cpl of players and think we have a good chance of doing the double over them. Win the league and get stuffed by the tigers lol. In the prem they will get assaulted lol.
Wages and fees make no difference when it comes to FFP calc. It's just what your overall loss is, less any deductions e.g. training ground, Academy, women's team.
i didn’t know this…can you give me an idiots guide on how it is calculated then… I thought it limited you to xxx mill loses over a certain time period
It is, but the loss that you're limited to isn't specifically the loss on your accounts, it's after deductions. It's why all these FFP cases aren't as simple as saying "We added up your last three losses and you're over" Everton were arguing interest they paid on a loan was a loan for their stadium so shouldn't be counted for FFP, but it was found the loan was actually used for paying player wages etc. so did need to be counted. It all gets confusing. As far as fees v wages, if you sign a player for 10m on a 5 year deal, 2m a year gets counted as an expense, plus whatever wages you pay the player. So say you pay him 19,230 a week (I picked because that comes to a nice round 1m a year), you basically have 3m of cost associated with that player each year.
No I understand that Syd. I just thought we'd 'overspent" on wages more than on fees. So if we reduced wages it was a good thing.
Surely the transfer fee would have to go against FFP in exactly the way it’s structured. So if more of/the whole fee is paid up front that would all come out of that initial year?
Clear as mud? It's why all these FFP investigations take as long as they do, it can be really complex to work out. BUT.. Acun in the summer said we were close to the limit. That was before signing Philogene for 5m. So I have no idea how we're going to be making permanent offers for Giles and for this Turkish kid.
