Southampton are offering a loan for the rest of the season and a permanent move in the summer, which the player wants, so it looks like we're out the running.
At least we can rule out it being him now wanting to move here given he currently resides in Burnley.
I don’t think there was a bargaining chip to be honest, Carvalho became available (a big upgrade for us), we managed to get him, that made twine surplus. We save money and he got a move elsewhere where he’d play more. No hard feelings and a win win win for everyone involved.
So much for only wanting players who want to play for us. It was obvious to anyone that Benson was holding out for Southampton. That's 2 weeks wasted.
