If the boot was on the other foot, and the migrants were trying to leave our beaches to get to France, I reckon we'd be a bit lax on border security too. The French will be doing the bare minimum to justify the funding we give them.

Stop the money, spend it on enough channel patrols to turn them all back.

There's no solving the root cause at this point. We spent plenty trying to help these people at source and they're still rocking up on our beaches.

We lose sight of the humanity at the political level in my opinion. The fact so many are so desperate is tragic beyond belief. This is the age of AI, yet folk still have such terrible lives they risk the lives of their children.

I am not advocating the UK takes everyone in. But for crying out loud we need a bit more humanity and to reach out the hand of help, along with our friends across the world.

We might just see a general election fought in part on how many people they will stop joining our country. It will be a tasteless example in my opinion.

The Scots are hammering those on between 40 and 50k with an effective 54% tax rate, while those making more pay less. Not exactly 'the Rich' you all pull your skeletons out over.

The threshold for the higher tax band is frozen at £43,600. Why are you saying 40k?

They’ve had little choice due to Westminster imposition of austerity, if they want to freeze council tax, provide free school meals and reduce child poverty. I’m in that band as it happens and support this idea.

If they spent less money on independence (and then stealing it) they might not have needed to.

It's not going to make anywhere near what they think it will. It might even reduce the tax take from that bracket. Everyone I know and everyone I've seen online is going to salary sacrifice into their pension, new electric cars through the company scheme etc.

Then there's the knock on effect of people not taking jobs up here, jobs moving south.

It's a dreadful decision that's nobody's fault but the SNPs.

The good news is that after Labour get in and fail, it should make it clear to many that the establishment parties have no capacity to do anything other than run the country into the dirt. At that point we arrive at a junction where anything is possible, including mass repatriation and the stripping of citizenships, with the approval of the UN and the likes.
