I can't remember many cockneys doing well up here. It's normally the northern fellas or the Irish we tend to warm to

last time I went to the stadium of light I had a fan tell me to get out of the home end and **** off down south, presumably because he heard I was cockney. We weren’t even playing a London side.

I still get nervous around Sunderland fans since then. I’m nervous today. Such a sense of imposter syndrome which is so silly really

I know that feeling mate. Had it Tuesday night on the branch coach. There's me a committee member collecting the football card money and lad chirps up with "where you from?" When I answered Millfield the reply was "how come you talk like a cockney and support Sunderland then" <doh>

It's mad. Just to be clear, that message was purely as observation and no more.

You've just been unlucky there mate. My cousin comes up quite a lot and has done for years. It's never happened to him, and he's not a withdrawn type!

That's sad that you feel nervous and wary in amongst our own fans. We have fans all over the country and the world, so you probably had the misfortune to bump into a few daft lads who had one too many.

I left the North East when I was young, so have a Southern accent. I've never had any bother at all from our own fans.

Drivel is the term for your post.

You never have a good word for Sunderland tbh. You've called everyone worse than shyte, KLD, Amad, Mowbray, Pritchard, etc etc etc ...

I am critical of the club because in the 50 odds years of supporting them we have done nothing but under achieve. I don’t consider getting promoted from the 3rd division and consolidation in the championship as any other than bang average, if your happy to applaud mediocrity that’s your choice, it’s not mine.

Or it is still between 2, nothing has been announced by the club so we are all going with what we have heard/read online

People have taken bookies odds, forum rumours and misinformation as fact ...

... then criticised the club off the back of it.

It's like when that pediatrician's house was attacked by an angry mob <laugh>
