I've had my meltdown about the appointment but there is nothing anyone here says that is going to change things, and as @Southern A says I would lose more faith in them now if they back tracked based on fan opinion. He's a good coach, with a very good pedigree in youth setups and as an assistant. Apparently speaks Portuguese which can only be a positive and is good for Hemir. Lots of positive things being said about his training sessions which is good. His teams all have strikers scoring which is a positive as I believe we are one of our forwards scoring 10+ goals away from being a top championship side. My personal concerns are that I don't like how he disrespected QPR and their fans and it makes me uneasy that he's so keen to move on when he is doing well. I also do not like his style of football. His QPR team over-performed based on the data and his Rangers team were slow, boring and really struggled against low blocks and his big game record is poor. His big challenge here for me is showing he has a plan B. Dodds in two games has shown he is capable of creating two completely different gameplans so hopefully Beale will listen to him. Trust KLD and Speakman as they have made all the correct coaching decisions so far I just hope that this appointment, like the last two, takes us forward.
He lost a hell of a lot of money because he trusted some truly awful people to run his business Obvious ones being Roberto De Fanti, Mags Byrne and Gary The Hair Hutchinson When you don’t have the right people making important decisions people just take the piss Allardyce is praised by our lot but some of his transfers (and Moyes) were incredibly expensive and absolutely honking KLD brought in his family’s lawyers and advisors, the club is far more likely to make a profit over time
I speak fluent French having lived and worked there and had a glamourous Portuguese girlfriend ... Maria De Lourdes Lima Machado. I can happily converse in Italian, Spanish, etc as the building blocks are all similar. I doubt Tony was at ease outside of the North and could barely understand supporters in the Black Country. I've absolutely no idea why I've posted all that, I fancied a good drink so I've had one
Presumably the same handful of imbeciles who were screaming at Sunderland to 'push out and attack' against Leeds Dodds and Meale are closer, in their experience, than some unknown bloke who's coached an anagram in Scandinavia. We're an English club, in the Championship, let's get real.
Not having a go cos I really respect you as a poster but what has Beale achieved in management? Are we just going with blind faith?
Very few managers achieve that much tbh mate. I remember endless 'hot properties' like Gary Monk, Ainsworth and Adkins being touted for the Sunderland job ... ... they've gone on to virtual obscurity. Sunderland seem to be able to bring in endless players who they improve despite all odds ... ... if we can do that with a manager then we'll do well imo. No one else thought Hume was worth £150,000 ... he's now worth £3m.
This is a genuine question, not meaning to be arsey so apologies if it comes across that way, I keep reading that he struggled against teams that set up with a low block and also struggled in the big games (presumably against Celtic) but yet he apparently has the highest win percentage in the top flight of any Rangers manager (is that right?!). How can those three things all be accurate?
Fair, just expected a bit of a wow appointment I guess, genuinely nothing will please me more than me looking a mug for these concerns
All valid points and I’m pissed to **** So might aswell back it, cautious but we are in good hands I guess 3 points tomorrow and I’ll shut the **** up, absolute worst case scenario we finish mid table and can go again if needs be just booked my tickets for hull so I’m fickle as **** I’ll still be there as much as I can, mick Beale mr bean whoever I’ll still turn up
Don’t mean to rub it in but a fair few people knew about Beale early this morning. Fishpaste’s source wasn’t one of them https://x.com/capt_fishpaste/status/1735600532050288959?s=46&t=ytuWp7U1aolYI5Bcb_Paxg
Smug, you've answered a few questions for me! Ta very much! KLD wasn't happy with Tony saying there was a problem with players not speaking English. So.... I was expecting a young, multilingual coach. But, is Michael Beale multilingual? Or does he speak 'pigeon Portuguese'? Cause that doesn't cut it for me. So what did the 'club' want? Mowbray speaking 4 languages or a new, young 'yes' man who can say 'good morning' & 'good bye' in 4 languages? The squad is very exciting & I'm hopeful for some good times, but I'd love KLD & Speakman to give us a bit more reasoning for big decisions.
Record against Celtic was P6 W:1 D:1 L:4, the win was a meaningless game after the title was decided and Celtic played a weak team, the losses also include two cup semi final defeats. The low block thing comes from what their fans say, they really struggled first game of the season at Kilmarnock where they lost 1-0. I also know they were booed off after winning 1-0 against Motherwell because of the poor performance. Football up there is so different to down here, you aren't just expected to win you are expected to dominate everyone, play well, beat Celtic and win trophies. His QPR side were also much better when teams didn't sit deep, 1-1 at home to Rotherham, 0-0 at home to Stoke and 1-2 at home to Huddersfield were all games they had a lot of possession but did little with it just looking at stats.
