After last night, I’m happy if Dodds gets it. His tactics were absolutely spot on, the team set up and discipline was tremendous. We might be looking for something in a head coach role that we’ve already got.
Not really true though as I had and I am sure others had. he was featured heavily on SS News a few months ago when it was revealed that he was coaching reims without the correct Fifa licence and the club were paying fines to keep his service. At that time he was on a run of undefeated games which brought him plenty of attention and admirers.
TM said very eary in his tenure that the recruitment team had regular discussions with him and his coaching team regarding recruitment and what was needed, so whilst the head coach may not have the final call on signings they will have valuable and important input on players who are brought to the club That is how we ended up with Dack after all
L'ÉQUIPE are the biggest reporters in france the won't just pull a story out the arse for the he'll of it
I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly saddened it’s not going to be Hellberg (even if it ends up being Still). He seemed like a really imaginative and bold choice. He seems like a proper innovator and seeing how well Cifuentes has transferred his performance to this league allayed a load of my concerns regarding the level of risk.
The issue is people expect it to be absolute already. Of course there are going to be talks which leads to more talks. Big decisions for both parties. I think I said on this thread that he would be exactly what KLD and Speakman would want and if there was any willingness shown from Still we should go for it. Seems that's there has been and KLD isn't going to speak to him personally for the bants. Hope it gets over the line. Also, will be the issue of compo. Has to be fingers crossed.
This, L’Equipe don’t indulge in tittle tattle. It doesn’t mean Still will be our next head coach but it does confirm there’s been conversations had. I am slightly uncomfortable with the fact that Still had to initiate the contact though.
Think it's been lost in translation personally. He was on our list. We will have sent feelers out and his rep will have said they are open for discussion. Then it happens.
I'd rather Dodds keeps working on coaching/setting up the team and let someone else be the front man. He's too crucial a resource to sack at the end of the season when we finish 11th
I wasn't sold on him for starters - all this talk of binning off a playing career to play Football Manager sounded like a gimmick, not to mention that he's still a bairn, but the more I've read, the more I've liked and as you say - he's a perfect fit for what KLD wants at the club. Be quite the coup if we were to bring him in
Quick translation: “Everything written about Will Still is horseshit. I could tell you the truth but I’m going to keep talking so you’ll pay attention to me for a little bit longer. It’ll all come out in the wash and you’ll see I was absolutely right. Like and subscribe etc “
I think FM and lack of license are handy hooks to hang him out on if you’re a Newcastle fan or a journalist wanting to put a bit tension into your article. If you bool in to SAFC reception and say “I broke Football Manager and I’m not licenced, can you show me to my new office”, I’d say that’s a negative. If you play computer games, aren’t qualified for the job but still have important people interested in hiring you it’s a positive.
I’m still not 100% but they are two outstanding performances and wins. Changing at this point feels like a risk and if Dodds as a first team coach isn’t accepted by an incomer I’d say no deal and stick
I think Dodds is more important in the back room staff level - if he takes on the manager role his shelf life at this club becomes FAR shorter. as much as hes done well i'd be happy for him to go back to what he does best and thats coaching.
if you read his comments obviously translation could be wrong, but he's basically saying it just all a load of rumours and it will all fade away , that's the way i've read it anyway l, that's why i'm saying L'ÉQUIPE won't just pull a rumour and go with it , they would of checked it
Well the best I’ve seen of him is Saturday and last night. His influence as a leader appears more effective as his previous.
