I feel like I'm missing something with this Will Still fella, why is there such a clamour for him? I know he started his career at Reims very well but seems to have done absolutely nothing special ever since? He's taken them from midtable to... midtable? Why are folk talking as if he'd be some massive coup? I think I'd rather have Hellberg, his career has at least been on an upwards trajectory throughout. Still's seems to have stalled after a couple of good months?
Shouldn't really surprise anyone. F Dodds came in as a young coach, learned from a few managers, developed and now possibly ready for the big role. We're just developing staff as well as players. Look at arteta, Leicester fella. Loads of coaches starting to make their way through as they're embracing all of the modern coaching methods. It ensures you don't just blow all your progress up in smoke of your get the wrong fit. We know the players like him, we know he's a good coach, we've seen the players react well. Makes a lot of sense really
Every appointment, every, is a massive gamble by those making the decisions on recruitment. Its no different whether that be the Manager, players, Coaches or CEO's right down to the Stadium announcer.. Yes, track records are important but again, it does not mean to say that Dodd's would be effective in overall control of first team affairs. He is not for me though.
Genuinely question, based on what? I don't think we as fans have any idea about coaches like dodds or the others we've been linked to. Historically yes, they all had track records and quite clear identities. This lot, who knows! Dodds has brought through the best player in the world right now. Whilst you certainly don't put too much on that alone, it's also quite something to bare in mind.
As i've said ...i've nothing against Dodds, but I just think he shouldn't get the job...way too early imho. Also, if he was seriously in the running why go through interviews, give him a few games, see what happens....or has his stock risen after the WBA game. If thats the case its a worrying approach to recruitment
With Dodds I suspect it's a case of what his value is to us as a coach right now and potential manager in a few years time versus the risk of putting him in before he's ready.
There is more to being a manager or head coach than just coaching though. That's the thing. Whatever the title, that bloke will coach the side. Then he has to deal with the consequences of having 25 or so young men, all wanting to play, and some possibly having various other off field issues. He is the first to hear and deal with this stuff. Then endless press. Etc It's not for everyone, and it's more than being a coach. Many of the best managers did little coaching.
Dodds may do well so I won’t judge him until we see how he does if that’s the way we end up going, but I do think it tells us that what we pay and how we run things isn’t ticking the boxes of our target coaches or we wouldn’t have had interviews and failed.
Exactly. If dodds gets it after 7/10 days it just shows that they couldn't get their targets. We know that their have been interviews taking place.
which is unusual in itself. usually something leaks. Very weird. I think its gonna go to dodds until the summer.
he also said he’s not spoken to speak man or kld so how’s he getting the job like you constantly keep saying?
Dodds did say they were off interviewing people like. The info might not be complete we know that but there were more saying they’d heard about Dodds yesterday than anyone else so it’s fair that we consider it possible.
surely they will have a word with him then? Or they just just going to say oh btw your gaffa now! It’s just all ****e nobody knows **** all. And keep saying the same **** doesn’t change the fact nobody knows **** all.
