Been watching some highlights from Hellbergs current team. Trying to get a sense of what sort of style he has. Never easy to tell from highlight reels I know. Nevertheless seems like he has them pressing high up the pitch and in numbers too. Some decent counter attacking play from wide and with direct balls in behind. Really looks to load up in the box, you can see times where the ball is wide and there are 4 or 5 in the box. Does seem to play to a number 9, with a 10 and 8 going beyond. Defensively they do look wide open though, particularly spaces between defenders. As much time as it took to drink a cuppa, but as far as my analysis goes.

That does seem to be the main criticism of him, particularly defensive weakness on transition.

Interestingly that was the main criticism of Farioli too, that he was just too cavalier but look at his record at Nice - they just don't really concede goals at all. I've no idea what he's changed since being there or if there's any relevance at all (probably not) but thought I'd mention it anyway. ;)

Same for me mate. Said it immediately and said it historically. He is absolutely tailor-made for the club and its entire growth plan from top to bottom.

Understanding is he isn’t even in the conversation which is just baffling.

There’s a strong school of thought that he’s hanging fire for the England job after the Euros like, and maybe that’s well known in football circles, I don’t know.

Seems we are looking for candidates who are starting out on a path trying g to do what Potter is proven to be able to do. He has done it at 3 clubs.

He could come here and implement everything the board want and the club would grow for years.

Don't get the clamour for Potter, nor that he's out of our reach really. Wasn't exactly a huge success at Chelsea.
I think his failings there and success at Brighton are a large part about how well those clubs are ran rather than just his ability.

Good managers have struggled/are struggling at Chelsea mind. I’d love Potter but very much doubt it’s him. Curious about who the English one is.

Maybe his lack of linguistic skills goes against him?
I'd have him but as has been said, surely he's a shoehorn in for the England gig.

Chelsea is an absolute basket case of a club, I wouldn’t use that as a measurement of any manager. Too many high profile players and way too big a squad with an owner who knows absolutely nothing about football.

Not using that as a measure of Potter just highlighting the club structure is a big part of whether a manager succeeds or not.

For me Potter is too big a name to simply operate as head coach. The England link tells you how high is reputation is despite Chelsea spell plus his time with Brighton. If he has issues with recruitment then he could quite readily turn the fan base against KLD and what he is trying to achieve throwing away everything we’ve gained in last couple of years. A younger up and coming coach is a way better fit. Potter would be a huge risk.

I'm really surprised that people think Still and Potter are within our reach. They will get an opportunity at the top table, they don't need to prove themselves with us.

    Hellberg is the one.

Begs the question. Why isn't he here then?

I agree r.e Potter but not Still.

There are only 20 PL teams. A top 6 championship team may be a way in.

Have we advertised the vacant role? It would seem easier to do that and see who applies rather than chase after someone we know doesn’t want to come.

He could be playing European football next season and he'll be a shoo in for a bigger job in France. But Bundesliga clubs will be keeping an eye on him too. He could be somewhere like Leverkusen or Frankfurt next season. The Premier League isn't the only game in town.

England is his dream, though. I agree - very tough to get him in - but I haven’t ruled it out just yet.

Often the right path is the one that may be hardest for you to follow. But the hard path is also the one that will make you grow..
