Thought it might be worth revisiting the original post and purpose of this thread.
I wonder how much activity is going on behind the scenes. I have to confess that sometimes I can get a bit crazy with all the unfounded speculation of the press and others "in the know".
However, as you correctly pointed out, for the first time in a while we go into a window with the shackle of the umbongo removed. I think also and as remote suggests, it's important that the club looks at those who should be moving out either permanently or in loan.
As far as incoming is concerned the need seems to be for cover unless there is the chance of someone that significantly improves us and can fit in.
I lost track with what's happening with Kieffer Moore. To begin with I thought he might be a bit too one dimensional for us. However, his recent showing for Wales showed great work ethic that would fit with Erol's expectations.
I dare say the jungle drums will increase in volume as we get closer to January.
Every position in the team should be considered, if an improvement can be made.
We either need to sign improvements for starters, or improvements for back-ups. That's how the overall squad improves. It should be the goal for every transfer window.
There are priorities though.
I'll stick with LB, CM and a Striker.
LB, cover as a minimum.
CM, only if we can sign someone who is nailed on to start in front of Ralls and Wintle. It's pointless signing cover. Erol obviously sees something in Wintle or he wouldn't have given him a new contract.
Striker is a must. As I said elsewhere, Meite is a great squad player and will do a job as a 9, but he's a jack of all trades.
Moore would be good, with Etete as cover and Meite extra cover and versatility. (Have I missed any options for the 9 shirt?

)
Some interesting words from Bulut regarding Panzo and Runarsson. Both were brought in to be 1st choice.
I do feel aggrieved when you bring in a loan player and they don't get game time. Seems a waste.
Fair play on Jak and the two CBs for making the shirts theirs.
As you say though cling, work should be well under way by now.
