Unfortunately bringing players in that is supposed to improve the squad has proved a poisoned challice for every club. We have been know to bring players in who turned out to be worse than what we had. We live in hope. My opinion for what it is worth is we should worry about losing players.

Thought it might be worth revisiting the original post and purpose of this thread.
I wonder how much activity is going on behind the scenes. I have to confess that sometimes I can get a bit crazy with all the unfounded speculation of the press and others "in the know".
However, as you correctly pointed out, for the first time in a while we go into a window with the shackle of the umbongo removed. I think also and as remote suggests, it's important that the club looks at those who should be moving out either permanently or in loan.
As far as incoming is concerned the need seems to be for cover unless there is the chance of someone that significantly improves us and can fit in.
I lost track with what's happening with Kieffer Moore. To begin with I thought he might be a bit too one dimensional for us. However, his recent showing for Wales showed great work ethic that would fit with Erol's expectations.
I dare say the jungle drums will increase in volume as we get closer to January.
Yes let’s step aside from this sideshow & concentrate on the thread.

The January window is a strange one & distinct to the summer one. The significance this time is City can open the purse strings.

Will they? If in or around the top 6 you’d like to think Tan will sanction some spending.

We have to start adding value to players.
Spend, yes, but only if we can start becoming more self financing in the transfer marker.
We can't keep on signing players for £1M - £5M and selling them a year or two later for 50p, or just loaning them out.

If this is the first time we spend money in a while, let's get value for money.
Erol and the team did well in the summer for nothing (though I'm sure Siopis will have been recompensed for buying himself out of his contract), let's see how they can do with a few bob in a more challenging window.
I'll also be delighted if they can shift a bit of dead wood.

Will be interesting to see if we get any more 'unknown' Turkish or Greek players come in.

Think we're close to unanimous that Siopis has been a great signing and now Goutas has settled a bit more he's proved to be a very astute signing too.

I've nothing against either of them but I'd sincerely like to see Sawyers, Campbell and sadly Rino go... Rino I was really hopeful of but it's definitely fair to say that more quality has been brought in since we signed him...

If we can offload those 3, bring in another CM, a Left Back and a striker I'd be very happy.

We have done well without spending money, if we can get players for free of the same quality that might seem a good idea. Madine cost £6 million and was a known goalscorer so simply spending money can backfire. .

That's absolutely true.....

If we do spend then it of course needs to be spent wisely. As has already been mentioned on here, our record on signing strikers is pretty poor....

I trust Erol to know what he wants though...

Just four goals (3 in one game) and one assist this season. I think we are after the wrong Wimbledon striker as they have a guy called Tilley who's scored eight and has six assists. Of course, all this in league two.
I think remote is right and just for the moment untested potential is not the right ploy.

In fairness to Mullin he's only just back from a horrific injury sustained prior to the start of the season. So it's difficult to ascertain how good he'll be in League 2.
However, regardless of his injury, it would still be a huge step up and I'm not sure he'd fit in anyway.
In any case as already mentioned, he's in Wrexham for personal reasons and I can't see him leaving.

I am judging on the quality of his goals but as everyone says we will not get him. Must say I watched the game that won them promotion and his 2 goals were outstanding.
