I knew Mr Labour would be along to these posts.

Seems like the infighting has already started within the Labour Party, again. Thousands of anti-semites up against thousands of decent people who aren’t racist.

Should be a good watch, tbf <cheers>

More than 35 Labour MPs and 250 councillors have also called for a ceasefire, with around 30 councillors resigning from the party over the leadership's position on the war.

Meanwhile, Andy McDonald has been suspended as a Labour MP, over what the party described as "deeply offensive" comments at a pro-Palestinian rally.

Thanks for proving my point.

Hostages or Prisoners ?

'Israel detains ....1,319 administrative detainees held without trial. That data from the Israel Prison Service is compiled by the Israeli NGO, HaMoked.

But many more Palestinians have been rounded up by Israeli forces since 7 October. The Palestinian Prisoners Club says that some 1,680 people have been arrested from the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as some 4,000 workers from the Gaza Strip who had permits to be in Israel. That brings the total held close to 11,000'

So Israelis held captive are Hostages. Palestinians held captive are 'administrative detainees'

Interesting how the language used defines (and directs) the public on how to see this war/conflict/oppression/genocide (see how it works)

Ever wonder why Israel 'arrests' and holds these people captive ?

Israeli government issued Military Order 101 which essentially criminalised civic activities under the basis of “hostile propaganda and prohibition of incitement”.

The order, which is still in use in the occupied West Bank, outlaws the participation and organisation of protests, printing and distributing political material, waving flags and other political symbols, and any activity that demonstrates sympathy for an organisation deemed illegal under military orders.

Three years later, another military order (378) was issued by the Israeli government. This established military courts, and basically outlawed all forms of Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation as “terrorism”.

So arrested, thrown in prison indefinitely, without charge or trial.......... for waving a flag

Can anyone tell me when anti-semitism became a term used only for prejudice against Jewish people?

Always confused me as Arabs are semites too. Presumably there is a reason behind it but I'm ignorant of it and am interested to know

Possibly around the time the Israeli government began accusing anyone who criticised them of anti-semitism?

It comes from the early 1800s.

The term was popularised by the Germans in the late 1800s, it was often used as a replacement for "I hate Jews" so that "scientific" texts which decribed them as being lesser than normal "Aryan races" would be less obvious.

This is wrong.
