Said 40+

I’ll admit I missed the last sentence although I’m not sure that can be applied to last season’s Burnley

But it clearly isn’t as simple as adding those up. There are styles of play and systems to consider. For example. Tella played central a lot. He wouldn’t have here. Adams might have been in a two man strike partnership (I can’t remember). Adams’ goals might have come from the Tella equivalent in that team being involved in the creation rather than the scoring - reducing one tally

But sure a pithy comment is suitable here and football is just a simple game of finding a player who scored X goals last season and they will automatically score X goals this season.

My favourite example of this was when Chelsea signed Shevchenko and Ballack and the sports papers were salivating over Shevchenko and (I think) Drogba getting close to 30 goals each and Ballack and Lampard each getting 20 for an automatic 100 goals. Based on prior records at different clubs. And ignoring that they had one of the most defensive managers in recent eras. That still sticks out to me because I knew that was laughable at the time and proved to be. Pretty sure they were still really successful. But those goal returns simply did not happen

39 is almost 40, you’re just making a point which is pretty dumb imo.

You say Tella played central a lot. Here is his heat map:

Pretty wide right I think.

You say he wont play central here - how do you know?

See, I think you likely have more of an issue with Os due to the Politics thread, so are picking up on his posts and trying to find fault because of that. Like some sort of unconscious bias. I do it with yours, as I find you anal as ****. Like the 40 goals when they only got 39. **** me, go arrest someone.

Just a few points.

1. We will soon reach £200m profit in player sales this season. The shortfall is £80m. This has been a profitable relegation. Last season we made £159m from being in the prem. We are doing better than that and have not spent anything.

2. I am in this for Martin. Fantastic manager and love his system, but he just came from a team where the money dried up and he left. You do have to spend on replacements.

3. This final week makes or breaks us.
Our rivals have fantastic forward lines and ours has no sharp edge. We are a Dalek with a feather duster for a blaster. Nobody can even think of arguing - without massive delusions - that most of our goals have come through the two players WE JUST SOLD. We have to replace them with quality. I don’t need two players. I want one player of the status of Piroe. Take 10%of our profits and spend it.

3. We have sold most of our top tier players. The ones people want. We have sold very few of our mid tier and none of our total crap.

On this basis Wilcox has done only an average job. He got good money for the jag and the lambo but he can’t sell the ford. I will judge him after this week. He needs to offload a ****load and bring in someone who makes us all go… ok, ****, yeah, this league is ours.
Out of interest - where does the 80m number come from? I ask because others say 100m

Also - which two players are you referring to in Point 3? Tella and ?

Tella and Che. Che is off. If he isn’t I will be happy as **** but he trained with the leaving group yesterday and I have heard Bournemouth are back in.

Somebody else posted 80. Happy to say 100. We have still made a vast pile of cash compared to any of our rivals.

If they were asset stripping to run, I'd not mind if they sold the entire team if it meant they ****ed off in to the sunset. They're not running off. We're their useful cash cow. They're ****ing terrible owners the rest of you just won't admit it (yet)
Are they? So far they made BIG mistakes last season with the managerial situation. Spent around £140 million in the season (biggest season spend in the history of the club). Have admitted the mistakes mainly through Wilcox who now fronts the club media wise. Moving onto this season they have appointed a manager that by the looks of it, most fans including myself are getting fully behind as it’s great to see a manager with a style and a plan. Are sensibly balancing the books not to put us in the position like we were last time we were relegated, but will in my opinion still leave us with a squad fully capable of challenging for promotion this season.
I guess time will tell who is right who is wrong and agree to disagree.
Any way I’m off to get ready to go and support the players who will be wearing the red and white today. COYR

Nathan Wood would slightly disprove this otherwise excellent point!

Well, clearly that isnt happening, and we are keeping Lyanco and SR are obvs just putting out info in the public domain without actually going through with the purchase of Wood.

Shame he wasn’t called Lyanco Jones, come to think of it.

Stop projecting. YOU have an issue with ME from the politics thread. At least you admit it. I give you credit for that. Doesn’t mean we all act like you though.

I knew you’d assume I was just being petty by the 39 rather than 40+ which is why I tried very hard to explain and include the historic chelsea example. But your petty issues with me means you just don’t bother. How about you just don’t engage if you have that much of an issue with me?

I’ll stand corrected on the Tella point. It seemed like he actually scored from central whenever I happened to catch highlights. But I might be cherry picking the best ones or misremembering. He clearly actually played on the right

Projecting <laugh><laugh><laugh>

I imagine we have crossed swords on there, **** knows what about.

So no, isnt from there, just you’re a pedantic son of a bitch that constantly demands to know the ins and outs of a ducks arse.

So, again, you aren’t reading what was said, you have just said I admit I have an issue with you from that thread, and I never said that, did I. I followed it up install with you are as anal as ****,

Thanks for literally proving my point at the very first attempt :emoticon-0148-yes:

Anyhow, not getting into a spat with you, not really what I was trying to do, was just making you aware that 40 goals is almost the same as 39, and it really isnt important, and like you, this is as boring as **** for other forum members to read.

Enjoy the game :emoticon-0148-yes:

The issue is people make assumptions. I would say the ‘positive bunch’ have all predicted we will finish mid table or playoffs while some of us ‘neggies’ have predicted top two. The truth is being ambitious for the club can come across negative. Doesn’t mean we don’t support the team- but in all honesty we have nearly completed our third successive window without fixing the striker issue…

This place is weird all the time. But at least you don’t have to pay to post. The other place is weird even with that slight odd bit of mini gate keeping. Usually free access makes it weirder - like with Twitter

Been meaning to mention it: everyone who posts on here owes me, personally, £0.01 per post. You have 30 days to comply.

I’m hoping you are right on 80 as it means less of a gap to fill! Leeds probably do as well given their lack of sales!

Were the groups definitely a leaving group and a staying group? I must have missed this. Heard there were two. Or is this an assumption because he trained with the group that Tella was in?

Che hasn’t been sold yet. I prefer to wait until it happens. If he doesn’t play today then I’d agree he is definitely gone. Which would be unfortunate.
