It’s the financial model, most expensive players to buy and to pay the wages. Resale value is in decline. Sell players at peak value and re-invest. If you can spend same wages on a player who is younger but playing to the same level but yet to peak then the transfer value is only going up, not down. Football is a money game and only those with cash to burn should be buying players at their peak. It makes a huge amount of sense as a strategy.

I know I'm in a minority (probably of one) on this but I'm really disappointed with Mowbray and the way he's going about things with the way he's operating in the media. He's really whipping the fanbase up into a frenzy at the minute and to me it all seems to be about self preservation and to serve his own means. He knew the recruitment strategy and what he signed up for, he knew what he was coming into but yet he now seems desperate to publicly undermine it and it's causing everyone to lose faith. It's not fair on the hierarchy who have brought the club on so much in such a short period of time and it's not fair on the young lads and players we have already brought in.

I can understand that he may be frustrated (though he acknowledged himself that the recruitment team have done a great job and are working their arses off trying to get forwards in through the door) but for me that sort of thing should stay in house, communications with the fans should be managed but instead we're seeing fans on mass wanting us to dispense of the whole thing, wanting Speakman gone and calling KLD worse than ****e after one (and a half) bad results and with the window still open for three weeks.

The biggest challenge in my opinion, in moving the club forward in the way that they want to, was always going to be getting the fans on side and making sure they hold their nerve when things inevitably occasionally look a bit tricky. That would have been tricky anyway but it's nigh on impossible when you've got the head coach actively contributing to over the top, disproportionate hysteria.

The only one I could take losing would be Neil. Hypothetically say we got 10m for him, we could replace him with a good quality DM for half that, then another 5m for a striker.

Its possible a lot load of top clubs have recognised what we have done & now when were showing interest in their so called 'failed' players if you like they think....hang on SAFC wouldnt want if he was no good we want xxx instead of just x as previous, will get harder for us to keep picking up UK players like we have

Lot of negativity kicking around, also possible this is being made worse now due to way club do business, as in not as many leaks, it may appear they are not doing enough but they maybe trying for the best possible target we can get rather than just signing 'a atriker', ive no clue i just hope we have learned from not strengthening in the striker position from last few windows, what i dont believe is KLD has come here to fail, i hope the model will evolve & its possible they are finding out with certain positions we might need to sign that little more experience.

We may well be close to that signing, again no idea, lot of stress & pressure inside the club at the moment, KS has done good job to date, TM has done an outstanding job to date, KS probably sees SAFC as the making of him & this model....TM has been around a long time, now has ideal big coub, close to home, probably his last chance of really achieving something....... hopefully there manages to be a bit of a hybrid model here & we get those last couple of additions needed as in the main this squad has the chance of another very good exciting season.... however we wont achieve that again without a goal scorer

Sorry mate, but I don’t see posters as being fickle. The anxiety being expressed shows just how committed we all are to the club. No one has called for regime change, just worrying about what is going on and perhaps becoming a little impatient with the long-term plan. Criticism about the lack of progress in the striker hunt may be justified considering the length of time we’ve been waiting, but every club wants good goal scorers - that’s why they are so expensive; and we don’t know how much the club has available to spend. Yes, the owner has billions, but does he have ACCESS to those billions. As far as I know, his money is still in a trust fund controlled by trustees.

I read that as the 3 of them want to move on and Tony is trying to balance their wants with our needs. Fair enough. I reckon the article also shows how committed he is personally.

Baath - hasnt looked right so far this season. Time for him yet of course.

Pritchard - Dack may well get more game time.

Gooch - I would keep him here, but if wants to go he has earned it.

Good strikers are gold dust in whatever division. It's an indication that it's the one area we've really failed to address in the KLD era. Roscoe was a gift, but since then we've really struggled, and when he got injured,it became a real problem......and still is!

Just been through all the pages myself and confirm nothing on transfer rumours coming in (only about potentially Baath Pritchard and Gooch leaving) so you haven't missed anything <doh>

    DCM also needed.
I think the answer depends on the quality of who we sign. If we get two /3 with quality we might be ok.
I think the replacements you mention reduce our age and probably our wage and offer growth. Would playing them instead on Saturday mean we are more or less likely to win ? Dack maybe yes, the others no.
