Good post. Shame that football has got itself into such a pickle. I think it about the Saudi stuff. It’s all just Saudi doing the same as we’ve done with our wealth. Wealth has been the ruler of football for too long. As Smug said, it’s nice to see some good attacking football and personally I like Mowbray leading it.

I’ve been off grid all day. Can anybody summarise what’s happened?

    I’ve seen that:
    • Keef says Clarke has had his head turned
    • Preston fans seem to think cannon is joining us
    • Nixon thinks Bishop is coming to us on loan

    • is that about right? Anything else?

Add to that the excellent team spirit, likeability of the players and unearthing a few gems. Brilliant time to support the lads.

Rubber face over the road said Cannon has definitely visited us.

some pnE fans say Everton are waiting on Toure or Iheanacho and it’s most likely going to them.

Others however are saying that we might offer a permanent deal which suits Everton more.

    who knows !

Good post. Brighton are doing well now, but if they continue selling their better players, they imo they will go the way of Southampton

They wouldn't, someone rich would take them over. They are an established champions league team now. Like all doping stories, it gets you to a place you haven't earned legitimately and you can stay there when the doping stops

Brightons scouting seems to be light years ahead of the likes of Southampton’s recently though.

They’re a strange one Brighton I don’t know where I stand with them, they seem to be doing it best at the minute but I do think other teams trying to deploy a similar model but not as successfully, like Brentford, have a shelf life in the Prem and it won’t be long until they end up back in the championship. Their only fallback is that they’re in London and can attract players like Palace.

I just don’t see how you can compete with clubs who throw ridiculous amounts of cash around every transfer window when you’re worried about making a profit.

Brighton and Brentford owners used to be in business together, they now don't speak at all . Both have the same model.

This. He's no longer a miss. If he did sign a new deal and was fit it would be like a new signing.

presently, we cannot and i believe the aim is to 'barter' our way into the premier then have enough quality players to keep us competitive...i also think if one similar ran team gets relegated another similar ran team will replace them for at least a few seasons.

the FA sold thier souls to the tv money which initially allowed the 'old' top six to gain through the tv coverage, city owners saw something they could throw money into and that was apparently 'stopped' with the FFP but as usual, money speaks volumes...far too much has been caused by the mega-rich owners and football, as a league competition is slowly dying, the only part that still remains are us 'lesser clubs' and our true supporters and i honestly hope when the rich kids get sick of playing real life FIFA and feck off, us 'lesser clubs' finally have a chance again.

Well we'll see, if and when it happens. Its far more when IMO.

But really rich people, REALLY rich, are very picky. The North is not usually their first choice . They see London, and then London. Some more London. Or some other cosmopolitan capital.

Abhu Dhabi were and are interested in sportswashing and geopolitical leverage, so place doesn't matter to them.

Wives and girlfriends have a big say in where players go, not being sexist but shops are what counts ...

... the women have to do something while the bloke is at work and that's meeting other women for lunch, gossip and shops.

They do. As Keane said when he was here!
Much the same will apply to private billionaires I'd expect.

Didn’t really know much about how much Blooms put into the club to be fair so unsure on that front but over the last 5 seasons Brentford are £100m in the red on transfer activity whilst Brighton are £10m in profit. They’re the only team in the Prem actually in profit. You do wonder how long it can go on though when other clubs are £300-500m in the red, or in the case of Arsenal and United over £650m. How do you compete with that?

The Saudis are repeating what Sky did with the Premier League in 1992, and some here are starting to feel as the other European leagues did then.....all their best players heading to England in pursuit of the money. Human life has this annoying habit of making things go around and come around.
