Its a funny one, yes get the 3.5m being ok, its the 5m on promotion, yes will have gone up &;have the extra money.....BUT will have paid 8m for a striker im not sure will be capable of PL level
He’s only 22 though, could still be developing his game.

By contrast, Vardy was playing for Stocksbridge at the same age.

Strange how most of us were clamouring to get Simms back. But now he has gone elsewhere we are wanting someone better.
I wasn’t to be fair. Slightly undecided really because I think his general play is poor and I would definitely not do that deal.

Can't say I was clamouring mind. I'd have liked him to stay, and see what improvement he made, and then make a decision on him.

Good box player though, which is hard to find, but you need a hell of a lot more that he didn't seem to have really. At 22, he should have been showing more of it.

We'll see, but we do need at least one good forward in.

Once we lost Stewart and Simms, Clarke's disadvantage was twofold. Without the ever-present threat of a lethal cross, defenders were able to close down more aggressively against the dribble, and once the side became height-challenged, TM began to prefer Alese over Cirkin.

When was Alese preferred over Cirks?

If Cirks is fit he’s one of first on team sheet and always will be.

Clarke isn’t about pinging ball after ball into the box he likes it on the ground and likes to cut inside, I’m not sure we lost any impact at all from Jacky when without a striker, I’d suggest he thrived on the interplay this lead to.

Having Stewart on the pitch would’ve stretched the defence and occupied the centre backs more often than not instead of being able to double up on Clarke with the full back once he was in and around the box. At times our wingers were trying to play cute football through 3-4 players which wouldn’t have happened if we had Stewart and was frustrating at times.

I absolutely agree not having Stewart cost us, particularly at home mate.

A lot of that cute play our wingers tried came off though, and we found a way. Clarke absolutely shone.

What we needed was both options, not one or the other kinda thing.

Clarkes contribution last season was incredible, I reckon he would be the biggest miss of any first teamer if he were to go

I know its's been posted before but always worth a second look

My thoughts on Simms.
I’m not bothered that he hasn’t joined us.

His stats with us look good but I think that the way we play is great for strikers who get lots of chances with our attacking play.
Being supplied by Roberts, Clarke, Amad, Cirkin, Hume and then getting passes from Neil, Onion and Pritchard must be a strikers dream.

I bet Charlie Wyke never beats his last season with us.

I reckon most strikers would thrive on the way we play.
I also think that Amad will struggle to get anywhere near last seasons performance when playing with other teams.

One worry I do have which has been mentioned a few times is that we are currently weaker than last season.
We’ve lost two first teamers in Amad and Gelhart and we have no immediate replacements.
The four bairns we’ve signed are probably a few months (at least) away from being in the first 11 as are Jewi and Lihadji.
I’m assuming we don’t lose any of those mentioned on here (Ross, Clarke, Ballard, Cirkin, Bath for examples)
Goalies are no problem. Patterson will probably be fine all season but if he gets injured I bet we could get some ‘emergency’ goalie in because other teams seem to do it.

The recruitment team are doing great so I’m sure they will at least get a couple of first 11 players in but as we saw last season sometimes things don’t work out as we want them to.
For me, 2 more first choice strikers are essential.
Ross may or may not feature and he must be considered a big injury risk.
Semedi(?) is probably not quite ready yet.

Those who say good strikers will not come to sit on the bench are wrong because if we have four they will all be rotated, rested and played and that’s not accounting for any injuries which will happen.
