Listen, we all love Luke. Absolute legend of a lad and has been great for us.

He isn’t going to be a player that’s a shoe in for games, if everyone is fit.

Delighted if he stays but if he has a shot at PL, and he fancies it, he would go with the best wishes ever imaginable, the team would be ok.

Im sure his persona would be the bigger loss around the club. That’s the part to be considered for sure.

There’s 7-10 players I’d be more worried about losing from a pure football perspective.

I wonder if Mowbray and Speakman have looked at him and thought the same and offered him a contract that reflects that, so that we wouldn't have a high earner sitting on the bench until required

O9 would be a massive loss. Versatility and his personality on and off the pitch.

I'd offer him a decent 12 month extension. Or even keep him around until next summer, even with the risk of him leaving on a free. By Jan we should have a good idea whether we're challenging for a prem spot, and can offer him better terms then, even with a release clause if we don't get promoted

I’m not itk at all (I’ve only ever been given solid info once about di canio being manager called the lad a liar and thus lost my source :emoticon-0102-bigsm) but I know a lad who is pally with Luke and Dan Neil, he’s is incredibly grateful to play for us and knows we are likely the biggest club he will ever play for, no idea if the rumour is true but I’d image he’d see he’s contract out here minimum

I can absolutely 100% see Luke O'Nien going to Luton this window. It's very local for him. I know he has a north-east lass and kids tho.

I want to keep him but I wouldn't stand in his way of a Premier League chance considering his age and where he's come from career-wise.

For the right fee of course.

He's a really hard one to put a value on tho
His lass is from down south mate. I've got friends down there that know her family.

Ah I thought he'd met her up there.

I know a few people that know him down here. Doubt they'd get any info so won't bother even trying. But I concur with what was said above that he apparently loves it here. But also has a determination to get to the very top.

It should be his dream to play at the top and if he was to go I think he would leave with everyone's best wishes. Like you said mate can't see him going unless it was offer we couldn't turn down.

This has just come from a rumour from someone on a message board. Going of the videos of them back in training he doesn't look or sound like someone who wants to be away.

He seems the kind of positive character who's going to act like that in every circumstance and environment he's in.

But anyway - I don't think there's any question as to whether he wants to leave. The question will be purely around whether he has a potential only ever chance to play in the Premier League.

The likes of Ballard, Neil, Clarke - they can all be confident they will play there either for us or somebody else. I don't think O'Nien can be as confident. His window of opportunity to get in the Premier League basically comes down to getting there with us, or going to a club like Luton who will find him an attractive proposition, more so than most premier league clubs would.
