The players are only just back for training and the whining and moaning starts. It's basically digging at other supporters for being optimistic and daring to hope that the progress of the club continues.

I've no idea who else we'll sign, how we'll approach the season, how we'll end the season ...

... but ffs, why, after a decade of misery, can't we just feel good about the club.

The same people who warned us that we wouldn't be able to cope last season and doing the same this season. Luton made it to the PL with an average squad so there's no reason we can't give it a good go and that's all we could wish for.

What more do people want, a massive spending spree of experienced Championship players and back to the bad old days ...

... been there, done that, didn't like it.

Maresca was at City too as their EDS coach, good mates with pep so I wouldn’t be surprised if a few start the season there

    Mainly folk on Twitter TBF.

I think it makes sense in the context of our recruitment style, we generally don't sign "ready made" players, they tend to be youngsters who will bed in throughout the season and hopefully step up in the latter stages. I reckon we might start a bit slow but end the season strongly as our next crop of youngsters get acclimatised to the league, hence people could be disappointed if we're sitting around midtable come October

Bit disappointed that a "multi year" contract to have them on our kids shirts means we aren't planning on getting rid of betting / gambling sponsors any time soon.

I've noticed that a lot recently.

People make claims on specific threads about what posters are saying ...

... then, when it's questioned, it turns out to be quoting from an entirely different medium.

Davison mentioning aligning to the clubs values so hopefully we are looking to ditch the betting firm.

Honestly I thought the Championship was way more entertaining than the Premier League last season, I may be biased of course but you can see why its one of the top leagues in the world. This season will be even better.

Don't think any team is going to walk the league this year. Even Leicester, who's manager is fresh to the championship. Could be a surprise runaway of course.

I expect us to up there with the top 6, provided we get the last 2 or 3 signings we need (mainly another striker imo)

Rose tinted specs have us top 3, giving Leicester and Southampton a run

From what ive been told he is likely to go out on loan this season. Not sure who to or anything like that but ive been told he will be going out on loan

He is a very talented lad, dont know his best position yet as sometimes gets lost in the centre of the pitch but is unreal with the ball at his feet

What i love about us signing an experienced CM is we dont need them to start every game. I believe neil n ekwah having the makings of one of the best CMs in the league next season. Where we 100% need an experienced player is rotating with those 2 to keep everyone fresh. Plus its great to have an experienced player to come on last 20 mins or so to help see out games

We arent desperate for new signings so that means any players that come in should be of real quality rather than just coming in to be squad players

I think key this season, that people aren't taking into consideration enough, is that we have our players together for a full pre-season. Ekwah, Neil, Bellingham, pritch, embo will be learning how to work together from day 1, not 1 week into the season, (not forgetting about Evans and Ba)

Why do fans instantly think the three clubs coming down are nailed on with a chance of going straight back up?
Burnley did it, the other two weren't at the races.
For those able to look back over the last few seasons, I'm not clever enough, be interested in knowing how many did go straight back up.
These clubs are relegated for a reason, they're not good enough...sell off their main assets ie Madison etc so why are they instantly favourites?
Burnley took a gamble and completely changed their management and playing style and it worked, never a guarantee it'll happen again.
We've kept the neuculis of our squad, added the missing height and beef so why wouldn't fans be optimistic, can't understand this well it might go tits up, the world could end tomorrow just enjoy our upturn while it's here ffs.

Agreed. Only negatives are we don't have Diallo and if LND I'd still injured/away - they are big downsides against the positivity you rightly highlight.

    Agreed.

I liked seeing lots of drills online about using small spaces, moving and keeping the ball.

Its already why we are good at and having the lads in from day one as you say be a massive benefit.

I think in the case of Leicester, well they never should have come down, and it wasn’t an attitude thing in the squad, more a rut.

Could argue some of their players are actually more suited to this league as well. I’m not convinced about the other 2.

Leicester may be more balanced without Maddison, lads a brilliant player and will be great for Spurs, but in a relegation battle a player like that can become a liability, cos he’s going more of what he knows he’s capable of than what the team needs.

They still have Vardy & Inenacho as it is and an and they will clearly get goals at this level, strong CB pairing and good wing backs.

I think part of it is because this is a relatively rare experience for our fans.. By that I mean we aren't used to having to think about clubs getting relegated from the EPL. Last season we weren't talking about it as it was all about consolidation in the league. The fact its an issue for us this season is such a good indicator of our progress.

It's the first time in 19 years that we are starting a season in the Championship having not been promoted or relegated the season before.
