With the FFP situation and no one but maybe Chair moving for decent money I doubt he’ll even have half our meagre sales to re-invest.
I think perhaps Chair is worth a little more than the £2m that you suggest. I have seen some of his 22/23 stats which, despite being in a poor team, were at, or near, the top of the league. With more and more clubs doing this sort of research, they are bound to impress someone with a bit of cash to spend.
I wouldn't disagree with you on Chair. I think he's worth more but other clubs know our situation and will exploit it.
I said they'd be in for him, we knocked them back in January but he'll be perfect for them with Tom Bradshaw feeding off him up front. Only a Rangers bid offering Champions League football is likely to stop this. Another in the firesale...
footballtransfers.com have Chair market value at £6.7 M and Dykes £3.2 M for what that's worth. That's almost £10 million right there if we can get that, possibly if we can get more than 1 Club interested in each.
Essentially we need a bidding war for at least one of the players. Could see a Rangers / Burnley seeing that Millwall bid as still on the cheap side and adding a bit. Edit - having googled - I can't see anything online about a Dykes bid?
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/m...r-bid-as-they-look-to-win-battle-for-striker/ They offered £3 million in January...
The trouble with football these days is that there are too many teams all playing the same style. To you, to me, to you etc; Takes about 10 mins to get the ball into the opposing penalty area and then they face a brick wall because every opposing player has got back to defend. The only way to beat these teams is to break fast with pacey players leaving their goalie exposed ie the long ball out of defence into space behind their defenders. Long spells of boring possession is great when you're in front, but all the time? No thanks. I would much rather see that rapid transition from defence to the back of the opposing net in a few seconds. Don't get me wrong, banging it upfield hopefully is even worse than pit pat but the well timed, well directed long ball behind the defence - nothing they can do about it
0 wins in a dozen or so games and openly derided during Cup defeat to MK Don's didn't help, nor did the fact that he was responsible for bringing in Barton, SWP, Luke Bloody Young, Gabidon, Ferdinand Anton all of whom made us worse than the team that won the championship..... plus sent Clint out on loan, sold Gorkass and Connolly...... I know he was hamstrung by tango and cash but he fecked up big time.....
Totally agree that he's a talented coach and his man-management gets the best out his players. Still looks on the other side of living. Just goes to show, looks can be deceiving. To answer your question, though it smacks of sarcasm, I'm not sure. I was under the impression that he decided to leave. Either way, we could do with someone of his ilk, commitment, loyalty and integrity. Hear that Moleman?!
Wow. I must have been in limbo or a long holiday when this happened. Thanks for getting me up to date there Trammers. There I was thinking he was a "saint", but in truth, he's looking more like a "sinner". But to be fair "Tango and Cash" would have made Citeh into a basketcase. Too bad QPR board can't make a few more terminations a bit higher up this time. Let's just see what happens in the first 5-10 weeks in the new season, shall we.
It wasn't Tango & Cash that got rid of him. They and him did the job they said they would and got us promoted to the premier League, despite of what one thought of them. Tony and his crew of astute football business men decided he wasn't good enough to manage in the premier League and chose that wonderful manager Sparky to take the reigns. The rest is history and look at the state of the club now!
