Conor Masterson, Olamide Shodipo and goalkeeper Jordan Archer are also out of contract this summer. Masterson has been on loan at Gillingham, who are keen to sign him on a permanent deal. Chris Willock’s contract expires but QPR hold an option to extend it by another year and intend to do so. There is also an extension clause in the contract of striker Charlie Kelman, who signed a three-year deal in 2020 and has been on loan at Leyton Orient. Meanwhile, there are doubts over the future of Stefan Johansen. The midfielder was given a three-year contract in 2021 but is unsuited to Gareth Ainsworth’s style of play and might well move on. Head coach Ainsworth wants to revamp the squad and expects “big changes” over the next few months. I’m getting word that Shaun Wright Phillips is coming out of retirement providing GA is willing to show him what an opposition goalpost looks like. l’ve never seen a player chalk up so many kilometres and still fail to find the net. He could be a valuable asset for our juniors, then again he may not. l know he scored a goal when he first came our way, but ….
When? I seem to remember he didn't score at all until the season was nearly over when he finally took one of the chances that Taarabt gift wrapped for him. At Stamford Bridge of all places. Mind you I lost interest in the Cup games a few years earlier as only ever had 2 games a season . Was it a consolation goal during one of those eventful encounters?
Link of previous interest for 24-yr old Lincoln captain. Number of clubs interested. We’d have a battle on there. https://therealefl.co.uk/2023/05/10/queens-park-rangers-linked-defender-released-by-league-one-club/
When l said,......................."l know he scored a goal when he first came our way, but …." sorry, l was relying on my memory which in reality, could've been the first couple of years.
Love to be proved wrong but I can't see this being a very busy thread. We know that they bankrolled a promotion push with Warbs. I can't see them having a go next season. I'm expecting a few low level signings in the hope that we find some good players, finish mid table and then think about a promotion push in 24/25 or 25/26. Either that or a surprise sale to another billionaire who thinks he can run a football club.
Fascinating https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/65549007 To the summer of 2021, West Ham's total revenue was £192.1m, compared to AZ's £19m (21.08m euros). West Ham's wage bill was £128.45m, compared to AZ's £14.13m (16.2m euros). London Stadium has a 62,500 capacity compared to AZ's AFAS Stadium, which holds 19,500.
The estimated £10M saving we need to make next season from the last reported season on the rolling 3 year P&S (FFP) financials, is why we are likely to be selling the players we can for whatever we can, and replacing them with less costly alternatives. Having new owners won't help with this and if they didn't put in the £1.5 to £2 million a month the current owners are we would be really in the ****e.
Basically Chair, Willock and Dieng and we might have a tiny bit of change left over to buy a bloke who looked ok for Wycombe. Get your season tickets soon to avoid disappointment.
