Unless you're Klopp of course, who heralded a draw against West Brom in his first season as heading in the right direction and the livpl fans lapped it up ffs
And then We went on to win the lot.

Your manager was dancing jigs for the micky mouse cup ffs

All while a rapist is on your books<laugh>

Toney was betting on the games he played in. He was either betting on his team to win or he backed himself to score.

He backed his own team to lose about 15 times but he never played in any of them games.

More apt to say Toney bet on his club to lose no? As he wasn't even at Brentford at the time, wasn't he on loan?

The betting was when he was at Newcastle and Peterborough, I think.

Toney admitted to 232 breaches of FA betting rules over a period of five seasons between February 2017 and January 2021.

During this time, he was a registered player at Newcastle and Peterborough as well as spending time on loan at several other clubs.

Of those 232 breaches:

  • 126 bets were in respect of matches in competitions in which Toney's club at that time participated in.
  • Of those 126, 29 were in respect of the club Toney was playing for at the time.
  • Of those 29, 16 were on his own team to win 15 different matches. Toney played in 11 of those matches.
  • Of those 29, the remaining 13 were on Toney's team to lose. Toney did not play in any of those matches.
  • Of the 126 bets, 15 were placed on Toney to score. They were initiated at a time when it was not public knowledge that he was starting or playing in the relevant fixtures.

Yeah, sorry. But I find the wording everyone is using really weird, suggesting Toney bet against "his team" for me is saying something more nefarious.

I can presume that he didn't even know the Newcastle squad, aka, team. He was just betting against some club who he had a contract with, he weren't even playing there.

Still deserves a ban or whatever but I mean, it's a bit overblown for me.

Edit, Saffs latest post blows this out of the water.

Still don't care that much tbh though.

Reading this made me think I would never remember 232 breaches let alone 126 bets I'd placed - how do they get this level of information was it via data stored on a betting app, such as his mobile phone?

Only reason I ask I have never used a betting app, and when I was young it would have just been a case of strolling in a bookies to place a bet on a scribbled betting slip with no personal detail captured.

He’s an idiot if he’s got an account with a high street bookie. Private bookies for the elite if they’re placing high stakes or just get a mate to do it.

Trippier got done for telling his mates he was off to Madrid and they all lumped on it. If you’re going to offer that market you can’t expect people not to take advantage of it. A mate of mine is an agent and told me to back Arteta to Arsenal (when Emery got the job). I was able to back it at about 16s and lay it off at odds-on.

if they are placed online then it's all recorded in a database every transaction and bet you made.

Thats how i kept track my deposits and withdrawals plus what you actually put bets on.

I imagine it might even by more sophisticated now as mine was 8 years ago. I know nowadays they think you are overdoing it they will give you a call and put you through with a therapist to see if you are addicted (happened to my brother in law who doesn't bet big as far as i know, just loads of 5 quid bets maybe).

Back in my day they were offering me tickets to the horses the ****s. I don't even watch or bet on horses
