And to make the protesters at the coronation situation even worse, now the met police have come out and apologized for their own actions. Apparently there is now a law, going equipped to lock arms.
As one of our fellow posters mentioned a while back how come football fans, of which many are law abiding citizens, can be held back, detained, made to travel only on official coaches etc on a weekly basis in some cases yet have to accept it but antagonistic twats who know they are potentially going to get nicked get apologies, law suits and paid out.
If you have the rest of the day free, google, The Football Spectators Act 1989. You will find the answers to the first part of your post within. Or to simplify things to save you the bother, the state has said "there will only be one winner, and it ain't you". Then again, yea, go ahead and read it. About the only thing your allowed to do as a football supporter.
Probably not got the time but thanks for the simplified explanation. Maybe because Tarquin from Surrey isn’t involved.
The leader of their group has told the police to shove their apology and started legal proceedings, highly likely to be an out of court settlement. As for football, there's plenty of cases where solicitors have successfully sued the police on behalf of football fans. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
This is a direct consequence of poor communication between Senior Police Officers and on the Street 'plod',I fail to see how any of us should be liable to foot the bill. The guidance was vague at best and more of less left the on duty constables to make an on the spot assessment. It's fairly evident that this has backfired in spectacular fashion. Sadly, any out of court settlement invariably comes out of our pockets which leaves a sour taste in the tax payers mouth...
I think the police probably did exactly what they were told, remove anyone who you think might disrupt proceedings and we'll worry about it later.
The apology from West Yorkshire Police in the aftermath of the Huddersfield v City bubblegate debacle was a good day too.
Tesco's chairman has strongly denied claims that he touched women's bottoms on two separate occasions. A report in the Guardian newspaper alleges that John Allan touched a Tesco employee at the supermarket giant's shareholder meeting last year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65532230
