His dad own an emerald mine but became estranged from his father and moved to Canada where his mother lived. Then went to university in USA. Dropped out and started a company with his brother. Can’t see any mention of his dad funding his first business.

Could they be as big an idiot has him? Think what they could do for City in the future.
So he was given 28k?, hardly an argument to say he's only made his billions because he had huge amounts already. I'd say millions of "businessmen/women" have been given way more start up money then $28k and failed. People may like or dislike him, but to say he's only done what he's done because he had money is daft.
Unless obviously it was more then way more then $28k.....

By self made it means someone who comes up with an idea, develops it and builds up a business. Those who can do those who can't...
OLM has built up a business based on his ideas so is self made. Dorsn't mean he cut and syiched all the clothes he sells himself.
You said it is easy to make billilns when you start with a lot of money. The discussion was about you calling Musk an idiot so it wascavfair assumption you were including him in that.

Even if the concept of ‘self made’ wasn’t complete bollocks, Musk wouldn’t qualify as one anyway due to the startup capital from his father.
You said it's easier to make money when you have money in the first place which was ( I think in response to someone listing all the things he'd done ) implying he'd only done it because he had money.... $28k isn't a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.
I don't believe I made that argument, or anything close to it.
There was a suggestion he came from nothing, I was just pointing out he came from a wealthy family, but what's he's achieved is entirely down to him.
with inflation, 28k back then was a very sizable income to help startup, it certainly gave him a step up, who knows if he'd of had the revenue to take it off the ground and market his product
also it is easier to make money when you have money, that's just a fact
