I think what separates him from other Silicon Valley tech capitalists is that he himself doesn’t have any discernible talent when it comes to engineering or coding. I’ll concede he’s good at making money off the backs of other, more talented individuals who work for his companies and he’s invested his capital shrewdly in other ventures but he’s never invented or developed anything based on his own work, unlike Nikola Tesla himself. He has these grandiose ideas and throws money at things and tells his employees to get it done. His lack of an engineering background explains why some of his outlandish projects fail because his ideas aren’t feasible and don’t match up to reality.

Not a fan then?

Not really. I find him quite unremarkable as an individual. The people who work for his companies like the engineers are actually talented people and more modest.

When Acun first bought City and gave an interview to Sky Sports before our first game under new ownership against Blackburn last season, he said “I haven't achieved anything in my life by myself, I have always done everything with the team”. The self-awareness of a businessman to admit that his successes were not purely down to him but those who worked with and for him was refreshing. It’s why I think the whole ‘self-made entrepreneur’ spiel is the biggest load of bollocks.

He clearly has a gift for business and expansion, no doubting than but as a diplomat he lacks the basics to generate warmth.

What, every self made entrepreneur?

He has bachelors degrees in economic and physics so is hardly a thicko. If the people who work for him wee more talented they would be founding their own businesses. Could they succeed in the cut throat, go getting world of the public sector though where people who found the private sector too much bailed out to?

You seem to have a low opinion of the public sector, especially education, whilst also thinking it’s easy. If being a teacher is a piece of piss with gold-plated pensions and loads of holidays, why didn’t you ever do it?

Yes. Funny how many sneer at people who achieve something through a good idea or hard work but congratulate people who win a load of money on the lottery. Is he as bright ascsomeonevwithndegrees in Media Studies, the Beckhams and golf course management though?

Being successful seems to just be an reason for some people to instantly dislike you....

Being successful in public service as opposed to business is a reason for some people to dislike you also.

Hence the reason this thread has ended up on a complete tangent.

If it wasn’t for the taxes of those in the private sector there wouldn’t be any money to support the public sector.
