One day we might actually get chance to see Tufan in his actual position in central midfielder haha
Even this season he only really starts when we have no recognised strikers or no recognised wingers. When others are fit he's stayed on the bench. He's popular with the fans but his status in the team is much less significant than some people are making out. Realistically he's in a similar position to Longman.
I bet every team in this division and other divisions wish they had a player who was adaptable regards position, tries!!... scores!!! and influences a game. Even when he has come on as a sub, go back on the comments on here and just note how many 'we only started to play when Tufan came on' and similar comments are made. We as supporters appear in the main to see it, it seems the manager might well be seeing it too.Almost half of those are off the bench though. And there is a very clear pattern to the games he does start: it's only ever as a makeshift replacement for others who are unavailable. Currently he's playing in lieu of a striker, previously he was playing in lieu of a winger, and before that he wasn't playing at all because we had other available options.
The main thing that 37 total appearances tells us is that he has a very good injury record, which is important, but again it puts him in a bracket with people like Longman or Coyle: always available, sometimes starts and generally does a job, but not really in the manager's thinking as a first choice and not the star player that a lot of fans want to think he is.
I have to admit it does bug me a bit that some don't rate Tufan still. I'm not sure what else he has to do to convince people.
The fact he doesn't start as often as he should is probably more to do with 'game control', ie - going into matches with the mentality of keeping a clean sheet in the first 45 then trying to take the game to them later after they've been chasing us around while we keep the ball... The problem with that logic is that it never plays out that way in reality. Most of our possession is between the defenders while the opposition positions themselves and waits for us to amble towards them. If we started with the view of genuinely trying to attack from the off, he'd start more games surely.
Might be a bit harsh on the mentality there but I do wish we'd be more adventurous from the get go. I'd rather control a game with the advantage of being ahead rather than 0-0
Who is Percy?i don't think it's harsh perse
he's extremely new to the mangerial side of football, it's natural he might be a bit more apphrensive, he's still learning and figuring things out on the fly
i am excited for next season under rosie

I don't think anyone doesn't rate him as such. I'm more negative on him than most but it's not that I don't like him, it's that I think people are over the top with their appraisals of him. I think he's possibly the best finisher at the club. But I don't think he's one of our core players who we'll be building the squad around and it seems that others think he is.
The biggest problem with Tufan is he has no left foot.
Puskas had a good left foot. But he didn’t have a right foot. He did OK.

I'm not sure there's anyone who doesn't rate him, but there are probably some like me who are unconvinced by his performances and particularly his work rate. When we're pressing high up the field he is often slow to close down and allowing the defenders time and space. The goals he scores are valuable and shouldn't be overlooked, but he isn't on the ball enough for me, and when he is he doesn't do enough with the ball. Looking at WhoScored stats, he's 17th overall out of our squad. I know their ratings may not convince, but looking at some of the relevant stats per 90 minutes, he's 17th in passes per 90, 10th in key passes per 90, and 17th equal in assists per 90 (because he hasn't got any). Those stats aren't that great for a midfield player, and one of the problems I have with him is the very wide gap between how good he is in terms of skill and experience, and what he actually produces on the field. I think now he's fit, settled and playing regularly he should be doing a lot more than he does.I have to admit it does bug me a bit that some don't rate Tufan still. Wouldn't be surprised. Could be a good fit.Kompany to Spurs reported.... fact or fiction...?
