Amazon, Apple, Starbucks and several tech companies make big profits on high turnover, but pay very little tax.
Apparently the EU is looking into it????
Wtf Brexit
If you notice Apple goods apparently come from Ireland, cos of their low tax rate....
I say apparently cos the goods come straight in from (China?) Only the paperwork is fron Ireland...allegedly.
Surely some bright so and so can figure.put how to tax these companies!
It worries me that we're becoming over reliant on companies who primarily supply things made abroad and employ relatively few British people. The jobs they do provide tend to be low paid and tedious, often filled by immigrants.
Farmers are being pushed into producing low cost crops that are, again, picked and packed by immigrants desperate for any kind of employment.
It's all very well boasting about leading the world with banking, insurance, stocks, etc, but it reminds me of a recent time when France thought itself unassailable with their wine production. After centuries at the top table they've seen it snatched away from them and they'll never recover.
The UK isn't making enough things and ourb jmport/export balance is skewed by the amount of armaments we supply imo ...
... and now our kids will struggle to study and work in Europe, another kick in the teeth which will make us even more introverted.
And seriously this is a question for us all. If America distance themselves from us, as I believe will increasingly happen, who will be our closest friend and ally. Now we've waved flags and rung bells at turning our backs on Europe it won't be anyone there and forget Ireland, both sides distrust us. It'll be the Emirates if the Tories get back in, they already own half of London and seem to do whatever they like as the NUFC takeover shows. Boris Johnson stepped in to wave it through even though it was quite clearly corrupt and shameful. He'd was quite chummy with Russia the fathead, look how that turned out.
