The basic message is that things went downhill after leaving Saints and that every club says they are a family but thats its bullshit, Saints were the only club that were genuinely like a family. He regrets leaving United after just 18 months. Also he says he left Everton because of their fans haha. So many players go on to do f*ck all after leaving us, it is a shame others never seem to take note. Although I suppose for every failing Schneiderlin or Chambers there is a Van Dijk or Mane.
I get your point but ultimately I doubt he regrets leaving Saints. He will have earnt far more at Utd and Everton than with us, and he gave it a go at bigger clubs. If he (or anyone) had stayed with us instead of moving on, the “what if” would be far worse than if you try and it doesn’t go well imo, like most things in life better to try and fail than not try at all or whatever the phrase is.
I am still surprised even now that he was unable to make the step up. Genuinely the best central midfielder I’ve seen play for us in his prime. He literally had it all. Amazing touch, vision, positioning & tackling. Absolutely dominated games for us in the PL. Then vanished without a trace. Very weird
