Aye but that says "Newcastle United" the name of the actual club isn't changing, although I wouldn't hold my breath.

I was tempted to have a bit of a frisk given the crap some of you lot have been dishing out but at the end of the we're all just footy fans following our teams and I'm surprised to find I take no pleasure in this.
The guy is an absolute shower and the success you're having is probably as much of a surprise to Ashley as it is the the TV pundits. So for what it's worth I ain't gonna take the piss and the real and genuine Newcastle fans who are upset by this have my commiserations.
One day Ashley will be gone and (hopefully for you lot) the new ownner will see naming it back as a great way to win you over.
p.s. I do reserve the right to have a pop at some of the Ashley apologists when they come up with their dispicable defences of this blot on the face of football.

In five to 10 years' time, everyone will know your magnificent stadium by its awful, rented-out corporate name. Even most Newcastle fans, I reckon. If this doesn't call for some sort of demonstration from your fans, I don't know what does. I'm living in Toon and would happily join in for the simple sake of showing that football fans aren't there to get their club's history pissed on by awful, self-centered owners who think of football as a business.
Sad to see this happen to any club.

I'm annoyed and saddened by this, it's an insult to the club and to the city, we were told when Ashley bought the club he wanted to use it as a vehicle to make sports direct a global brand. This story is making headline news on Sky, they've been inundated with tweets and emails,

IMO if anyone on here' ever refers to SJP as the Sports Direct Arena they should get a permanent IP ban!
Also, people WILL call it the Sports Direct Arena. People only called it SJP before because the official name was too much of a mouthful and still had SJP in it, but now the media will start to use it, and over the years it will get less and less known as SJP by normal people, and more and more known as the Sp**** D***** Arena.
SSN already using it now. Definitely will stick with news outlets etc. Always SJP to me mind. I just hope it doesn't rock the boat too much and we don't drop like a rock in the league.
