Tbf Edward Woodward wasn't exactly a spring chicken in the original series, albeit it wasn't exactly high-octane (I was a massive fan of the show and wouldn't mind seeing something similar again).

Yeah, i've totally avoided the new show as I just don't get the concept with Queen Latifa in it.

I can only guess its was first needed a black person cos densely innit, then decided woman cos well that's the done thing to attract younger folk and then we'll who's a big name?

they picked a fat old bird who couldn't swing a punch never mind run. it's hilarious.

yes they have to be of a certain age due to the character back story but come on.

Pennyworth series 2 still excellent,Paloma Faith is very good in it.
Outsiders still good stuff.

Rat Race is nowhere near this level.

It's fcked up on a scale of kids doing cocaine and a coked up grizzly graphically ripping off limbs and its baby bears eating out intestines <laugh>

so better or worse than a bus full of Lucy's that hits a cow suspended form a hot air balloon?

Pleased to see a good haul of Oscars for Everything Everywhere All at once
I tried watching it again, got further in but still turned it off before the end. I just don't get it.

Best actress? Not really a challenging roll imo, devoid of any real emotion or reason to really throw yourself into the role as essentially is a fantasy action film. Same with the Jamie Lee Curtis award. The award for the bloke from The Goonies I get as his role was quite unusual and intense he did have a lot of opportunity to really get into character(s).

I agree load of Matrix copy tosh. Like the Emperor's New Clothes once one critic hails it as genius they all follow suit.

Part of me gets where you are coming from

But at the same time its great to see a film that isn't a copy and paste drama or biopic win the awards.

Its about time Sci-fi and fantasy got proper recognition at awards season.

And the other Big films of the year, Elvis was ****, Blonde was lambasted for its controversy and frankly All Quiet on the Western Front has been done before. The others I haven't seen so can't comment on, but two of them I'd never heard of before the nominations.

I thought Blonde was fantastic, probably my fave of the Oscar films. I haven't seen The Whale though.

Like it or not, it was never winning anything.

Too controversial, the fact Ana de Armas was the only thing nominated about it summed up that it was too hot to handle for the Oscars.

Yeah I get that. The whole thing was class though brilliant inventive film making. The look the sound the acting all brilliant. Like you say though was never getting an Oscar.

In the end the Oscars pretty much came down to three films:
Everything, Everywhere- American
Banshees - Irish
All Quiet - German

And big surprise they plumped to give most of the award to the American film. Which is pretty much the history of the Oscars (with a few exceptions).
Part of why I feel most award shows are redundant now

I agree they are not great. Banshees also superb btw. Laughed so much at that film.
