I think the context is important. If he'd moved from QPR to Rangers normally, fine, they're offering more money and we'd all move jobs for a significant pay rise.

The thing that annoyed QPR fans was him going for and then turning down the Wolves job, professing loyalty, and then going to Rangers. Wolves are surely offering more money than Rangers and the PL is a much much bigger deal than the SPL, even if you're a non-European team. Hence many SPL players or managers making the move to non-European PL clubs. No player is going to pick Rangers over Everton because they get to play in the CL qualifying rounds.

So the fairer comparison is Wolves to Rangers, not QPR.

I completely agree with your last paragraph.
It was never about the way he spoke. Eddie Howe is softly spoken as are many other coaches who clearly inspire their players.
It was always about the impression that Critchley couldn't inspire this spineless bunch.
Then reports came out that he was a really poor communicator and hardly spoke to anyone.
He was the wrong guy, simple as.
We need someone to come in and put a rocket up these spineless players.

I was / am one of Warbs' biggest defenders but I don't see how this can possibly work unless there is also wholesale change with the academy staff given they didn't see eye to eye. I'd suggest that's only possible in the summer, if at all.

    Saff....this is exactly the point.

He professed loyalty and integrity.. He said he had a project here. The fans got a flag commissioned...and within weeks he was gone.

It also appears...he lied about never speaking to Wolves...he did.
He was seen in the Rangers box when Von Brockenhurst was still in post.
He went to watch Rangers on at least 2 occasions

Our dislike of him stems from the lies and the false hopes he gave us...and the players.

There is a story that at the start of the season he spoke to Paal, whose wife was pregnant...and convinced him to join us.
He was instrumental in getting Tim 5vowels here too.
Two players who have every right to feel slighted..

Two players who have no integrity if they have given up
They don't have to play for the shirt but they should play for themselves and their employers

It's not the fact of his leaving that bothers me - I said exactly the same as you at the time about not blaming someone for taking a bigger job - it's the manner of it. It's the lies and deceit, but worse than that the damage it's done to the group of players he's left behind, many of whom he'd been instrumental in bringing to the club.

    Loyalty and integrity my arse

In fact they and to be honest...I think only two of our squad have " given up" ....and neither are those two.

They both play to their best ability in a squad without a leader

From my experience of talking to people here (Paris) about football, that is not true. Admittedly, people will mention players from yesteryear, but they will have heard of QPR.

I'll answer that. To a large degree yes. He brought them in. Kids (which we wanted TBF) but without the minerals to take the knocks as well as the adulation of success and sick notes who struggle to play more than a handful of games. He then left them in the lurch having spouted on about loyalty at a club they came to in order to play for him when the wheels had just come off. In the meantime the players who had done well for us in the last couple of years were jettisoned to make way for the loanees. Little wonder that their confidence was shot to pieces. Critchley clearly did not have the personality or the nous to take over but he is not the only person to blame by any means. I know a snake when I see one. This one turned out to be poisonous.

I agree with this. Wilder has been found out and will be too expensive and too demanding. That's for next season but is he the man you want in charge for what's left of this season. Personally I could see Derry and Clint Hill doing the business together,

And then sacked the manager that took them to that final ! Why ? Because Rangers were playing ****, don't have the financial clout to bring in big name players, and are miles behind Celtic in every aspect ! We may be a deluded bunch but your utterly clueless

This has turned into yet another "Mick Beale bleating "thread. Its history and has no context to how we move forward now. It's done, forget him, move on and get back to supporting the club and whoever the new manager is.

What sort of manager do we need right now? I'd identify the 'style' of manager to suit our squad. Not sure they respond to a 'rocket up their arse' style. But then i'm not sure what they respond to at the moment. Certainly a quiet, meek Critchley was totally wrong but what would make these players tick? Maybe a footballers footballer? Clint and Shaun?

We need someone who understands football tactics, will command respect in the dressing room and is a "we're in this together" high-motivator, but isn't shy of giving the team a blast at half-time if they're underperforming. We're looking for someone like Warnock.

I fear that we may have missed that opportunity.

I have a great respect for MW and believe he would be great for the position of DOF.
