Used to go to the Ridley Arms for a quiet drink at the weekends when I was still driving. Used to have a nice warm atmosphere and served great food.

Got a gusto card too... Can't beat 40% off on Sunday's, 20% off every other day :p

Save enough room for the Nutella and mascapone calzone! Bloody gorgeous haha

I can't be bothered to read the entire thread. However, the only good places to eat in Newcastle are, Jesmond Dene House, Cafe Vivo, Broadchare, Blackfriars, Cherry Tree , Barn Asia and Louis. Depending on your budget pick accordingly. Anywhere else mentioned is ****, don't waste your time.

Jesmond Dene House. Probably have to have booked a probably about 50 quid a head but guarenteed high quality posh nosh. Tell her she's looking a bit chubby and you'll save yourself the cost of a desert.....:emoticon-0105-wink:

The broad chare has really good food, but I think it's atmosphere is a bit off for a romantic anniversary dinner. That said, if you haven't been there you should go on another occasion. It's a really great gastro-pub.
