Sideways and backwards. How many passes does he make forward and how many of those are completed? He can’t tackle, he’s not an aerial presence, he’s not exactly a box-to-box player who covers every blade of grass. I really don’t understand what he offers the team. Stick Doc next to Seri and you’re at least guaranteed someone whose energy will cause problems even if he lacks technical ability. And I actually think Doc’s passing, vision and first touch has improved a lot since last season.
Spot on, Seri made 16 passes into the Blackpool final third, Woods made 4. Woods didn’t make a single tackle, Seri made 2. Our midfield is entirely unbalanced at present but there’s not really much Rosenior can do imo. Simons isn’t ready for this level, Slater is pretty much the same as Woods in the deeper role and Doc isn’t a deep midfielder as shown last season

Problem with woods is

If we didn't have seri, he'd play that role. Obviously nowhere near as good as seri, but alright for mid table championship

Playing them both at the same time is just causing an unbalance, basically ****e and we need a new midfielder to supplement seri be that a new signing or one in the squad

At times I've found it hard to see the value in Woods, but I think he's been decent the last two games, and like with the other debates we've been having, I think it's hard to argue that the midfield balance is all wrong when we're controlling the ball as well as we have been.

The midfield of Slater Woods and Seri has made 3 tackles in the last 2 games all 3 of which made by Seri. The imbalance is when we don’t have the ball, Slater and Woods don’t do enough/anything aside from run around

But has that been a problem? Is there any sign from our performances that there's any issue with a lack of tackling in the midfield? It feels to me like people latching onto something that looks like an issue on paper regardless of whether it's actually been an issue in practice.

Defensively, I'd say our one real weakness recently has been getting caught out by a long ball when we're pushing for a goal. The Sunderland goal and some of Blackpool's chances were examples of this. That's probably more of a back four and goalkeeper issue though, I'd say.

I don’t think it’s a problem at present because we play so many midfielders it restricts our creativity that full backs get sufficient cover to stop their attacks. When we inevitably move away from playing Greaves full back and Slater out wide it’ll become more evident. We are essentially playing with 4 central midfielders on the pitch at the minute so we can crowd out players, but we create relatively low amounts through the course of the game

I’m just surprised people actually watch the warm ups! Why? A few beers, get to the ground 2:45/50ish quick piss & into my seat for 2:59. Sorted
What am I missing? Old Nige used to talk about winning the warm ups, what a load of old bollocks
****ing hell
**** the bed?
It’s rare I manage to drag @askewshair & @FER ARK out of the pub early enough to see kick off…

Fair enough, only time will tell on that.

If this is the case why the **** did we fill up a loan space with him?

Why haven't we done something about it in the last three months?

Why hasn't the useless **** who signed him been sacked?

Why haven't we sent him back?

We have a number of players which are OK. Slayer has time on his side but I don't see Woods improving beyond being a championship squad player if we've got genuine ambitions.

He's not a bad player, and I'd be happy to see him cover the Seri role in the absence of Seri, but they hardly compliment eachother as a pair.
