Paul Embery’s opinions are pretty spot in, in my opinion. Would make a good politician

I’ve just read up on him, seems he and the other Blue Labour thinkers are all Labour Party members and want to return it to its positions of the 1930’s, socially conservative and economically more left wing. Strikes me that a group clearly expressing these positions would get a lot of votes.

Economically more left wing - yes please. Social conservatism - no thanks. I don't think these Blue Labour people are at all numerous in the party and they're certainly not influential. It seems to me that some of their views verge on racism - 'traditional working class' = white working class.

I didn’t say I would vote for them, but I think a lot of people would. According to Wiki both Milliband and Starmer are influenced by them, but in invisible ways from where I sit.

I suppose their views appeal to many voters in the old Red Wall seats, whom Starmer is terrified of offending in any way.

Except that he clearly emphasises in his book that “traditional working class” would encompass many different races and cultures…..but hey ho, what divides us makes us weaker I guess.
It’s almost as if that’s what some people want.

Double stabbing in Feltham yesterday…can’t find it reported anywhere in the news….’cos it’s not news worthy anymore I guess.

Exactly, just an almost daily event now. The fact that we now have Third World crime in our cities, goes to show how idiotic Theresa May was to think police numbers could be reduced.

This will be a real blow to all the weird Union Jack Twitter accounts that made out he was about to become leader of the opposition.

Enjoying a morning off from the mayhem of the weekend just gone, with dare I say it a few people REALLY in need of our services, and catching up with Question Times that I had recorded.
After listening to Andy Burnham….he’s definitely someone who should be Leaderof the Labour Party and would most likely woo back a few people into the party. Talks sense in regard to striking workers etc and comes across as both intelligent and inspiring.
Personally I would support him. Maybe a few on the Lib Left would hate him.

I like Burnham and agree that he'd make a good leader. I don't watch QT anymore, so didn't see him, but he does have the advantage of being able to speak more openly than Starmer can at the moment as the actual leader of the opposition.

I guess if your talking about upholding the supposed values of the Labour Party, supporting striking workers taking legitimate industrial action and speaking up for needy people….then you could be right.
However the fact that Starmer DOESN’T do any of the above, imho, speaks volumes.

    Worth watching
