The more rumours get printed the better performing the players will be doing.

We all know eventually the big clubs will pick off the best we have, as long as we replace them well then I'm relaxed about it.

We play some quality football that's a joy to watch at times and long may it continue
Absolutely agree mate.

I do think Nixon is stirring this though and there may be nowt in it at all, the buy back clause was well documented when we signed Cirkin 18 month ago.

Hasn't he only got 18 mths or so left on his contract? Let's assume he is a normal human who wants the most money he can possibly get for his services, his best bet, surely, is to play every game, be mint and let his contract run out and then take his pick of all of the available suitors, and there will be plenty. That's assuming he isn't already on the magic carpet ride and/or a season ticket holder at Sunderland dogs.

Why spurs will take him back then sell at double the cost at a minimum.

Either this or buy him and loan him out. They could loan him back to us this season and then somewhere like Fulham/Brentford next year where he'll play every week in the Prem. Then at 22 he's either ready to be a part of their squad (which I think he would be) or they sell for £20-25m.

If I was Spurs I’d buy him back for £6 million and let him stay here for the next couple of years.
He will be worth so much more than if he goes back there to play for their reserves.

They can wait until his time here is up and then offer him 10 times what we could afford to pay him but still leave him here to improve.
He probably loves it here but money talks.

Maybe he doesn’t want to go back to Spurs if he thinks he will not be playing any first team football.
I wouldn’t think he would want to go to Brentford.

I wonder if Spurs could buy him for £6m and immediately sell him for £30+m to Liverpool for example (or for £100m to the Arab club on the northern outskirts of Sunderland)
Don't underestimate the lure of the Premier League, not to mention living back in London

I really hope he stays for another couple of seasons, but whatever happens he is the perfect example of the data-led recruitment model. £5m profit in just over a year is outstanding

Id imagine the only way Spurs would have let him go was with a low buy back clause. It represents an excellent piece of business on our part, albeit would be gutted to lose him
Help me out here if spurs come in with the 6 million are we duty bound to accept and Has cirken got the last word wether he goes or not ?

But he’ll still be under 24 so he will still command a fee for SAFC. Tribunal fee will be payable. No idea how long his contract is tbh though

As I posted earlier, spurs could bid 6 million every day for the duration of his contract. If he doesn't want to go then he doesn't go

Does anyone know if we were to offer a Cirkin a new contract and he signed it, would the buy back clause still be in place?

I assume it was agreed for a time period never mind how many new contracts we gave him in that time. Just hope it was a never ending period.

One thing I keep saying is, I hope the club put in a clause where Spurs can only buy him if they play him in over 50% of their minutes on the pitch over the next 2 or 3 seasons or something along those lines. In other words fair enough take him back to play him but you can't take him back to sell on!

It's starting to look like there is nothing of the sort as it would have been addressed with these rumours by now I think!

Aww James, have we upset you again <laugh>

Not saying it didn't happen but I didn't hear it so there's at least 2 things that are complete bull in McClean's statement i.e being sung by the majority of the crowd and everyone in the ground would have heard it. If you've got a legitimate complaint then fine but don't make stuff up/exagerate to try to prove your point.

It definitely happened but it wasn't the full ground. Not even close. It was when he was taking a corner. The guy is a ****er.

I don't like that some supporters lower themselves to abusive chants though I didn't hear what he is complaining about, I was in the West stand, near the tunnel. I did hear booing every time he came near us (and joined in a few times) but he doesn't help himself, especially by giving us a sly 2 finger salute. Generally love the singing from our supporters, especially when the songs are on a positive note, though the 'Garden Shed' chant always makes me smile, long may it continue.

There’s a post earlier (CBA to go looking for it) having a go at O’Nien for the deflection hitch led to Wyke’s goal. That, in itself, is ridiculous.

but the poster also ignored the massive hand he had in both of our goals. Had an easy sideway pass from RB for the first but, instead, played a lovely ball down the line to Roberts who then moved it across the field, he also had the sharp present of mind to stop the ball and play it straight away to pritcharfor the second. He gets so much stick from some fans and no recognition from those same fans when he does something like this. Brilliant

Only complaint I have with him is he dives in and gets beaten way too easily. Look at Wigans goal, if he holds his position instead of jumping in and allowing Broadhead to go round him we don’t concede. Was really good at right back in the second half, made a lot of unselfish runs to make space for Roberts
